The "OMG! Look what happened!" Thread

1st and 3rd are dawn of civ, 2nd is rfc Asia

Al-Muizz is quite dismayed after he's been forced to convert to Catholicism:

I'm sure we've all been there a time or two - breaking up because you know making up is gonna be so hot.

This isn't really an OMG since World Wars are common toward the endgame, but I still like seeing how many red lines can appear at once. To get my 3rd UHV I decided to invade the Mid East, leading to the largest world war I've yet experienced. Unfortunately I didn't think to take the screencap until a turn or two after making peace with USSR (and their vassal Japan) and Potrugal (and obviously, their vassal Arabia). There were even more red lines a few turns prior (and that horn just wouldn't shut up).

This game highlights one of my favourite elements of RFC - how going for a UHV leads to accurate historical effects - IE the attitude of the rest of the world to America's presence in the Muslim world. Great work on all fronts, Rhye! ;)

you have more friends than real america in that game :p

I've seen some weird stuff with regards to the native culture of Chichen Itza, while owning Yax Mutal, before - the city flipping even though my culture was far below 50% fx - but this is certainly the most crazy thing I've come across: the two cities both make the other one culture revolt at the same turn  Guess the grass really always IS greener on the other side :crazyeye:

Jarkov's RFC Civilizations in Abundance. Which makes me wonder, is there a conqueror event against the new Native American civ?

Yes but its only minor compared to the others.

This actually happened in real life. I'm not an expert in the early US history but it should be somehow related to Andrew Jackson...

EDIT: Sorry for the low quality, anyone knows how to improve that?

I did not get any upon first contact with the europeans, it maybe has to do with them first seeing me at Fort Albany - isn't their a special area where it has to be triggered, in regular civ aswell? But HopliteJoe seem to know the answer for sure, so what do I know.

well if you read my story here you shall find out if native Americans get a conquest event! (when i update to that point anyway )

You're thinking of New Orleans in the War of 1812. He routed British forces from the city, but several days after peace had been declared. Communication was slow enough that news of peace hadn't spread from up North all the way to New Orleans, so both sides thought the war was still on.

Who founded that city? I've never seen such a long name for Jacksonville.

Spanish did. However, I'm using citynamemanager from ScienceRules. We used it for our Succession game to add some flavour (it adds quite a lot of spanish names for cities in N. America) and I haven't changed it since...

Actually Jackson led some troops to quell a Seminole, who were living in Spanish Florida at the time, raids against the US, as well as fighting the Brits during the War of 1812.

This! Thanks for refreshing my memory :)

I just got a weird glitch while switching from a game as Rome to the Aztecs. Mansa popped up asking to be a vassal, but before I could respond to that, it popped up with the prompt asking if I'd like to switch to the Aztecs. I said yes, and it started to freeze up like it usually does, but when the screen came back, Mansa's trade screen was still up, and Europe was still in the background. The mini-map and scoreboard showed that I was the Aztecs. I went through and took every tech Mansa had a very reasonable price, then closed the trade screen. It started with a bunch of new tech pop-ups, so apperently I get them as the Aztecs. I can't decide if I should restart, or just count this as luck and play it as a parallel world where the Aztecs were very very advanced.

Yeah it is really a very very good question whether this was luck, or an obvious bug in the game - I can certainly follow your confusion
