The "OMG! Look what happened!" Thread

I know it was a bug, but I'm trying to justify the ethics of exploiting it. I think I'll go ahead with it. Here's a pic of all the techs I got.

The second one is from a weird Portugual. From the same game. After they spawned while I (Rome) was at war with Spain, instead of founding Lisboa, they packed up and moved. After I razed Cadiz, Faro (far SW corner of Iberia) appeared. In the meantime, the Portuguese stack wandered to Switzerland, then turned around. I never saw where they went, since I switched to Aztec.

I just got a weird glitch while switching from a game as Rome to the Aztecs. Mansa popped up asking to be a vassal, but before I could respond to that, it popped up with the prompt asking if I'd like to switch to the Aztecs. I said yes, and it started to freeze up like it usually does, but when the screen came back, Mansa's trade screen was still up, and Europe was still in the background. The mini-map and scoreboard showed that I was the Aztecs. I went through and took every tech Mansa had a very reasonable price, then closed the trade screen. It started with a bunch of new tech pop-ups, so apperently I get them as the Aztecs. I can't decide if I should restart, or just count this as luck and play it as a parallel world where the Aztecs were very very advanced.

You can justify it, I guess - if you accept the theory the Olmec civilization was from West Africa, and somehow managed to keep contact with their cousins across the Atlantic throughout the years, right up to the time of the Aztec.

Anyhow, back on topic, and speaking of Mesoamerica . . . you call this a conquest?!

Har har:

I don't quite remember the Spanish incursion into Central America quite happening like this. :)

Who founded that city? I've never seen such a long name for Jacksonville.

As Orono pointed out it is from the CityNameManager I helped put together. That tile actually corresponds to Tampa on Rhye's original CityNameManager, not Jacksonville. Tampa, Florida was founded well after Florida became a part of the USA and the name itself comes from the local indigenous language, so I thought it was inappropriate that the Spanish would name a settlement there Tampa. Pinellas is the modern English name of the peninsula that separates the Gulf of Mexico from Tampa Bay. Pinellas is derived from the name originally given by Spanish explorers: "La Punta de Pinal de Jimenez" (Jimenez's Point of Pines)

I was already scared with the might of my German friends, then i saw this... :

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

okay...India is the most advanced nation, never collapsed, is huge, strong, and now a german vassal...germany was already strong enough...
and lol, Ottos capitulated to Khmer, i was thinking Germany would crush them and make them their vassal, but they never attacked the ottos, so...
btw :

It scared the hell out of me, if the ottos were in my place, following Islam, i guess the sultan would often need to change his pants when he saw a german in his territory. :mischief:

btw, from the same game, at one time China was all-mighty, having Japan and super-india as vassals, a MASSIVE army, and India controlled entire Indochina, so yea, Asia was almost under complete Chinese control (except Siberia and North and West of Persia)
but then they marched a massive army to invade me (i entered war with them some turns after my spawn, siding with Rome and Persia). just to remember me of declaring peace, then they had to march all the way back, in that time maybe they had some problem with barbarians, becoming weaker, just to Germany in the future become the world super power, and then Mongolia conquering China. :smug:

Mid-range power Byzantium?! Blasphemy! Roma Invicta! Conquer Europe!

and destroy my hard-earned stability?
for now i must rest and modernize my country, i'm far behind tech (my invasions were costly, and for some reason my economy sucked in early game, and i had to run at around 10% of science ). But soon, everyone shall feel the power of the Roman-French alliance! of course if Germany can be added to it :mischief:

oh, i just recently got gunpowder, while germany already is getting rifling

btw, forgot to say that when i burned Muscow because of a serie of dows coming from Russia trying to steal Kiev from me (hey! it was independent! i just took the opportunity thanks to a non-sense dow of you guys!). then the germans built like 2 cities, one west of moscow, other south, and 2 more east of the southern one, even with all their territory, they're ultra stable!!
it would be epic a battle where there was the entire german army against the world, in M2TW

EDIT:
lol to mercenaries level! maybe i should have hired him?

nedless to say, i ragequited

You what? Did you at least make a save? Losing this kind of game (or surprisingly win it) is one of the best aspects of Civ :D

i do have a save of some turns ago (of course, i wouldn't lose a game with byzantium when i had to reload several times to get a favourable game (no stupid full buddhist Europe, of course it had some buddhist cities but also had catholic ones, and holy city in Constantinople)

My best games are the ones where I lose. I have scary memories of holding off Ottoman musketmen with longbows, in RFC: Europe...

Yea, but after i saw the declaration, i thinked : " it, my entire combat army is in the turkish border, and instead of the turks attacking me, my "friends" in Germany attack me? !"
then i rage-quited...
but i think they wouldn't be able to win against a two-front war, bad thing russia had already collapsed, cathy was being friendly with me trying to find a way to counter Germany, and would love a opportunity like this to backstab them. maybe i will try again another time, if they dow me again :D

gotta love that game as netherlands in vanilla BTS, where i lost, but with a invasion of the other continent, and nukes in my enemies. after some months i found i had a save from that start, then i reloaded from the start and made a alliance with izzy, then i killed everyone and won a domination :D

oh god what
