I don't mind that you're Christian at all, I have no problem with individual Christians. I am basically more or less against organized religion as a concept and think it should be 100% a personal affair, not involving any sort of bureaucratic structure at all. Explaining my comment about the church outliving her purpose, it's not meant to be a personal attack against anyone or anything like that. I love many Christians and some of them probably love me back. Most of my best friends are Christians. I have a couple photographs of Christians up on walls around my house even.

Let me also say that if Plotinus came in here and said I was totally wrong about the expectation thing, then I would probably change my stance. I'm an armchair theology peasant at best, I'm just going by what I remember was taught to me as I was growing up

Is Christianity based on human sacrifice?

and cannibalism? ;)

seriously, thats some messed up stuff, right there I'll tell you

they put him on a spit and ate him
Those holy Romans have all the fun.

If it was suicide does it count? Some say that is unpardonable. Probably because one does not get a pardon in the afterlife. Then they have to rely on the living dead to stand in their stead. It can get pretty complicated eventually.

I mean, we all know I'm no longer Christian and think the Church has outlived its/her purpose.

What did you covert to?

I guess now that you are free from all that humanity expects of you, the next step is to be free of your own expectations. That is if that is what you were aiming for. I still say that being part of a group though, will always have expectations. The point is God understands that you will never live up to them. That is what Love is. You love yourself or not, and realize, you can even let your self down, but you get past those points.

?

Humanity expects me to be a member of an organized religion and political party? No idea where you got that from or why

Not at all, but I don't really understand what you are saying. Why would I be free of my own expectations? They all exist for a good reason, I think.

I didn't really have a goal in mind. I just wanted to resign from an organization I was signed up for before I could consent to such a thing, once I realized that the organization in question is based on premises that I completely disagree with. Not cool to be signing up people for stuff like that while they're still infants, I am completely against the practice. The Mennonites do it right, they wait until you are old enough to reason through what's being asked of you, and then you can make up your own mind and either get baptised or not. As for political parties, there isn't one out there that matches up to my political views. My political views are always shifting around as well, and I hate the political landscape of "Us vs Them", so I just stay out of it. I argue my positions when necessary, but will not ever align myself with a political party. They have crazy long and detailed political platforms that in no alternate universe could ever hope to align with my own opinions or even half of them.

Well we were talking about Love with no expectations attached.

I suppose there are not a lot of groups void of expectations.
