Could be a reference to learning through experience rather than schooling (as in Clint Eastwood in that film where he says he was educated at 'Heartbreak Ridge', later revealed to be a place in Korea where he won a Medal of Hono(u)r) with regard to volcanoes?

Ohhh... I was dumb ... try googling it with quotation marks. Turns out it was a joke

What exactly is the model UN?

Could be interesting. If you get enough people I'll give it a go. What is the general time commitment?

Hmm... could be fun.

I would join if it was started up :)

Hey my little mangoes I got a question for y'all.
What was the dumbest course you ever seen/taken in University?
The dumbest I ever seen but didn't take was called "Witchcraft"

A waste of money... but yeah, might be fun.

"The History of Athens under Pericles."

Honestly, why would I take a 6-month course in Athenian history over a period of about 50 years, when all I really need to do is read Thucydides and Xenophon to get the same information? More, actually, considering Pericles died in the second year of the Pelopponessian War.

Hopefully you won't get the same information as you would in Thukydides if your professor is any good, because Thukydides is about as reliable on Perikles as Shelby Foote is on Nathan Bedford Forrest or as Talleyrand is on himself in his memoirs.

I found he reported Pericles' actions reliably, he just didn't have a clue about the effects of such actions. Namely, complete disaster, rather than the god-like awesomeness that Thucydides seemed to think would result from Pericles' actions.

Isn't it a bit snobby to spell Greek names with Ks rather than Cs? I think it's rather like pronouncing Anglicised Latin phrase in a Latinate fashion, rather than an English one.
