The S&T Times

I shall write for the glory of S&T! At least until school starts, when I might have mountains of homework, we'll see how Comp Lit goes when mixed with Spanish, Physics, gov pol, macroeconomics, etc...

I might, occasionally.

Any specifics on what you want to write?

Wow, what a huge effort went into this project. I think it's a great idea, but I can see why Tambien & Tommorow's Dawn burned out on the effort back in February--11 months ago. I kind of take notes on the stories I read, just to keep track of what I have & haven't read. I'd be glad to contribute a few thoughts if anyone is thinking about starting this up again.

Maybe if this was done as a quarterly, instead of a monthly, it would be less cumbersome on the editor. I'd also suggest a format that's easier to scan by eye (I'm sure there's a way to do double columns in this discussion board format) so that the reader has to do less scrolling up and down in order to find something interesting. Maybe also asking the mods to announce new editions on the home page would generate more attention and encourage the editors to stick with it.

Kudos to Tambien for coming up with this idea.

Here, I reformatted the logo in png and gif formats to be smaller and more informative. This is just a suggestion, not a submission. I'm only hinting at what might make it easier for a reader to see & scan over. Like right below the banner/logo the editor could list what the top 4-5 features are. Just thinking out loud here.

Thanks for your ideas! And yes, it was a titanic effort in wrangling the writers if nothing else. TD should get as much as, if not more, credit than me. He was a major help when I couldn't be there, and he was even better as an editor. :)

Regarding your ideas:

Yes, a quarterly paper might be easier to manage. I'll have to look in to it. Would you be interested in being a new co-editor/submitter?

We already had the mods announcing it on the front page. Sadly, it didn't bring a huge number of readers. :(

I also like the logo ideas.

Thanks for the interest!

Wait, isn't dawn a he? I'm confused. :crazyeye:

Thanks to you and the dude Dawn. I can write okay, but my only interest in editing is in suggesting the use of the "float" tag to put images and text in a second column on the right. That makes for a more user-friendly reading experience. Counter-concern is whether that will screw up the reading for anyone looking at the "magazine" from a mobile device.

As far as writing for it, just give me a deadline and PM me & say what two stories you want reviewed. I can crank a couple of somethings out in a two week time span. Caveat: I'm a Civ4 Noob.

Sure. Just suggest any changes you want done, like longify it or shortenize it, or even add the color #b03000 to grab readers' attention better. No reason to go grayscale in a 356-color internet (not like the old black-and-white internet that our grandfathers had to surf with back in the 50s!)
