The Screenshots Thread

How do I show a screenshot here?

Hit the Print Screen key- it's usally abreviated to "Prt Sc" or "Prnt Scrn" or something like that, and will be on the upper right of the keyboard, near the Pause, Delete, Insert, etc. keys- then open MSPaint and use the "paste" command, and save the resulting image as a compressed file, preferably a .jpg. Then use ImageShack or a similar image hosting service to upload the image, get the URL and paste it into the post box on the forum. Wrap it in image tags by highlighting the appropriate text and clicking the icon showing a small landscape picture (with the alt-text "Insert Image" in the command tray. When you post the comment, it should display properly. If it's large, or you have a few of them, it's also worth wrapping it in spoiler tags to minimise space, which you do using the spoiler icon- a small speech bubble with the word "SPOIL" in it, although you'll need to go to the advanced post screen for that.

I'm sorry if that was overly detailed, or if you felt it to be at all patronising, but I wanted to be comprehensive. I always feel it's a little pointless when someone just says "Hit print screen, duh" or whatever, given how very baffling I found that to be when I first went looking for instructions.

Actually I think RTW has a problem on some vid cards. I seem to get empty black screens whenever I try to take screenies on my current PC. It works OK with MTW2 tho.

I believe all the TW games since Rome also store your screenshots in a folder called TGA. And they are in .tga format which could be a problem for some programs. Also if you've installed in 'Program Files' under Vista, your screenshots and stuff are actually saved in the wierd VirtualStore folder, which you have to hunt for in your user/AppData folder.

They make nothing simple for us...

Thank you very much, sir!

See how many weird things you can spot in this picture:

popetalentusthetyrant.jpg

A saintly tyrant, Russian British isles, Papal Siberia, Polish Southern France, Milanese Cologne, Baltic Hungary with Venice holding St. Petersburg, I can't tell but it seems as if Turkey is also Papal... is that it?

Lol at the execution by bombards :) I guess the final, lone peasant captain was just standing in the middle of the town square, waiting for someone to finish him off?

Also I fought a big war with the Byzantines as Venice but I never saw them unleash such firey destruction. Are those some kind of napalm-throwers you get later on?

See how many weird things you can spot in this picture

All that strikes me is the vast amount of money you have :)

EDIT: oh right!

Also, the fact that Russia holds no territory in Russia is a bit odd.

In fact that's never happened to me in any TW games (losing my homeland), because I'm so awesome*.

(*fact)

I did lose Venice to Milan for a couple of turns, but I took it back with a big posse of elite knights, and then I made them pay.

Oh wait, I did try playing the Sarmatians in RTW:BI, and I was not quite able to defeat the Huns single handed :(

I was Russia. In the beginning of the game, I packed up all my things and sailed to Inverness, eventually seizing all of Britain. The Poles ruled southern France and Russia. I gave Novgorod to England, but it revolted. The Mongols conquered Anatolia, but a Papal crusading army wrested Jerusalem from them! The Byzantines managed to escape to the steppe and took it.

All the fiery death you see in the second picture is courtesy of the Greek Firethrowers I put on the enemy's walls once I took them. This is in the Crusades campaign of Kingdoms.

And now for more madness:

Spoiler :
A ghost has started a rebellion on Turkish soil:

He is killed and his rebellion crushed. This day will be long remembered. It has seen the end of Kenobi and will soon see the end of the Rebellion.

Egypt masters anti-gravity technology, though only the Sultan goes into battle without a mount. The man to his right rides an anti-gravity horse:

The Mongols were renowned for their discipline and order.

The sea floods! This miracle is a good omen for the Moorish migration to Arabia.

While pushing two trebuchets on a bridge, one falls off. Many brave Englishmen drowned that day in a futile attempt to retrieve it (plays 'Taps').

The oldest character I've ever had:
Spoiler :
vaggiotheancient.jpg

I tend to have small, elite armies rather than swarms of militia. I brutally tax my peasants, focus on trade, and send lots of merchants to Timbuktu.

Also, I play on Easy campaign difficulty, if that has any economic effects, removed the Plague, and have the time scale at one year/turn.:D

As England, the conquest of all Britain, France, Burgundy, Nuremburg, Africa, and the Middle East gave me an treasury of well over one million florins.

I forgot to take a screenshot, but just take my word for it: I managed to get 100% popularity with Carlos II of Spain, who has zero stars. I had just conquered four-some regions in the previous round, and Madrid was invaded by Portugal (enemy invasions of your capital region raise your popularity).

Kind of amusing, I think.

Portugal offendeth me in my game, WTH are they doing in Ireland and Wales?

Playing as peaceful and enlightened Scotland, I managed to get Europe's biggest treasury at one point. Then the Anglo-Protuguese alliance declared war.

Thus Scotland pwn0red the English, right down to London itself.

Unfortunately they landed a big army from France and promptly retook it. The Scots king vows vengence upon the evil anglo-portuguse.

It's pretty common for Portugal to invade Ireland, at least if you're playing England or Scotland. I've never seen them get to Wales, but that's usually because I've had to boot them off Ireland before they get the chance. Logical progression, I suppose.

In my games, Portugal and Spain almost invariably land in Wales and sometimes Ireland with an army led by their prince. I usually heavily garrison Caernarvon as a result, and the intimidated Iberians proceed to settle on the city's outskirts without attacking until the prince dies and the army eventually rebels.

I'm curious to see how Afghani Cuba, Hanoverian Mexico, Polish Alabama, Bavarian Venezuela, Maltese Texas, Ottoman South Carolina, and Venetian New Mexico turn out.

Wow... I was hoping that Empires would actually be less random. I've just stopped playing MTW2 again because of the AI behaviour. AI's would rather attack and die endlessly, when they have no hope of winning, rather than have peaceful trade. Now the Moors are sending a fleet to invade britain, just cos I (the player, Scotland) am there... Have they conquered Spain already? Not at all. It makes no sense.

Although I did get my first ever CEASE FIRE agreement in that game, with the english of all people. Of course they broke it ~20 turns later, and suicided their army.

Empires: at least there's no pope to excommunicate you for defending your own territory, right?

You get excommunicated for defending your own territory? Man, you must have absolutely 0 Papal points then. I only get excommunicated for attacking a crusader army, or for attacking a forbidden foe (by Papal decree) outside my own borders.
