The Succession Game

It is. It's about 4MB per user, but it doesn't really fill up that fast except if you post a lot of screenshots. There's a limit of three attachments per post, so that limits it much. Hence why I use links and/or images instead of attachments.

 no there isn't any limit on attachments per post. You can upload more than three attachments on one post, but you have to do it in sets of three.

Noo, 4MB can't be true. According to my Attachments page (go My Account and then Attachments down in the bottom of the panel) I have a total of 2,73MB attachments uploaded and the red used space is only a tiny bit compared to the green unused space.

Updated the savegame in the previous post.
Still not sure what happened, the PC at home still showed the file in the manage attachment list, strange.
Well, I switched to dropbox, makes my life easier.

Regarding a strategy for the game, I'm having the feeling:
- the small and tight map makes all-out war quite difficult, no stack-of-doom possible like in Civ4. In my experience one needs a couple of tiles of space to spread a significant army. And by that I mean at least 4 wide.
- on the other hand this exact same factor works IMHO to our advantage as the defense of our two cities will not be hugely difficult.
- furthermore I believe our neighbors, esp Washington have already built a sizable army

My 2cents would be:
- stick with the two cities, more cities would increase all sorts of penalties: culture, national wonders, policies, even science gets more expensive by 5% with every new city.
- a third city would need to grow fast and big, and I can't see that happening here.
- go right away after the national college in the capital
- grow our population as fast as possible: more ppl generate more science
- see how we're doing on the science front after a few rounds
- all the while keeping a couple of defensive units ready to counter any attacks (that will surely come)

One possible alternative I could envision would entail building a couple of Quinteremes which are good for bombarding cities if I'm not mistaken, therefore giving space for warfare.

What is everybody else thinking?

I'm thinking you're right in regards of military. The space is tight and our land is also surrounded by all these hills and forest which would slow down a land-based army a lot. We do have Quinqeremes though, melee units of the sea and stronger than Triremes, but we would probably still need ranged units to go in and do damage. If we were to attack our neighbors, maybe we should research some naval techs to get the ranged Galleass ships? Boston could probably easily be taken by some ships from Carthage. Attacking the other side of the continent would need us to get some more production going in Utique though.

But I like your ideas, a National College would help us get on in the science race because we seem to be quite behind at the moment.

Oh, whoops. I misunderstood the attachment window. The maximum is 60MB, not 4MB (the about 4MB was the current attachments I have)

while we're waiting, another thought:
- I really would like to have that Gem tile
Obvious happiness, it would also cut off the American city from its capital.

and while I'm at it, when we decide to go after peaceful science, we might want to keep the option for a surprise attack open. Should someone attack our disliked neighbor Washington, we could very quickly chime in and with a little luck take a city... :mischief:
For such a feat 1-2 Galeasses (is that the plural?) would be exquisit...

Any thoughts?

I just realized we are at the same exact spot as real life Nagoya, on the river and everything. And I guess utique matches up with tsuruga (don't worry. ;) I ain't never heard of no tsuruga neither).

Anyway, it's my turn. I'll try to play my turn soon, but that will probably be tomorrow afternoon. I could, maybe, do it this afternoon, but it's unlikely. Sorry for the wait.

I haven't even thought of that, you are right! Interesting to look at the map IRL! LOL

Don't worry about it, just antsy to continue the game.

Can't wait to continue...

Who's turn is it btw? Pydgie?

Alright, unfortunately, since you're file is in Dropbox I can't access it on the computer I have civ installed on (this is a problem with my computer's Ssl connection, anybody else, or any other computer can dwnld it). So, there are two options: either putchuco can post his save directly on civfanaticcs, or arexander can just go before me.

Alright, arexander, just take a shot. From now on, you are first in the lineup

Got it! Will play shortly.

EDIT: Just opened the save to see Washington being the only one friendly towards us. I sense a surprise attack incoming.

No pics, was in a hurry
