Turkey is partly in Europe, particularly if you count Georgia as Europe (it acts kind of like a border).

Soviet Russia had a recent history of being independent, not to mention they just came out of WWI with strong experienced armies and generals etc.
Poland was the country that was only 2 or so years old at the time, it is spectacular how Poland managed to B-slap Russia so hard.
Thats why I said "part". Just the western side of the Bosporus. Remember they want to join the EU though.
Why si much debate about Poland? What did they do to get this much attention? Someone enlighten me.
I divide Europe as West, Central, East, North and SouthEast. I guess Italy and Malta can be Southern Europe on their own. (Or grouped up with Western, either way)
Greece&Thrace would be in South East, and Turkey geographically is not in Europe.
That is how my head procceses it, if that solves any confusion.
Everything south of Italy is Southern/Mediterranean.
South of Italy is Northern Africa.![]()
