Soviet Russia had a recent history of being independent, not to mention they just came out of WWI with strong experienced armies and generals etc.

Poland was the country that was only 2 or so years old at the time, it is spectacular how Poland managed to B-slap Russia so hard.

The Russian Army had been defeated, broken and mauled by the central powers (which was the main catalyst for the Civil War). What little of a proper army remained had at that point been fighting a civil war for 2 years and most of the experienced generals were fighting against the Soviets. The Soviets were also fighting forces from the US, Britain, France, Italy, Japan, the Republic of China and a bunch of other minor powers that either wanted a piece of the former Russian Empire or wanted to help the Whites against the Reds.

If you read my last post, then it would say Greece + Thrace. Thrace is the part of Turkey in Europe.

And we are argueing the Geographics of Europe. Turkey is not geographically in Europe.

I still consider them European in culture though.

@Feanor, don't know history directly following WWI to well, so i'll let someone else take care of it.

I don't know if that was the projection, but I believe it was something like that. Anyway from Ireland to the Uruls, you can use your finger and find that the line goes through the Baltics, Belarus, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and somewhere near the Greek/Turkish border.

Polish people invaded the forum around BtS's release complaining that Poland wasn't in. Unsurprisingly, they lost the war.

I divide Europe as West, Central, East, North and SouthEast. I guess Italy and Malta can be Southern Europe on their own. (Or grouped up with Western, either way)

Greece&Thrace would be in South East, and Turkey geographically is not in Europe.

That is how my head procceses it, if that solves any confusion.

There's no such thing as Central Europe.

Everything east of Germany, Austria, Italy = Eastern Europe

Balkans = anything south of Hungary, Belarus, Slovakia, and the Ukraine (did I miss any?)

Everything west of and including Germany, Austria, Italy = Western Europe

Italy is also in Southern Europe (which includes Balkans for most maps)

Estonia/Latvia/Lithuania are Baltic countries that happen to be in Eastern Europe.

Poland is a Central European country in Eastern Europe and will always and only be known as 'that one Eastern European country that people forget' (e.g. "You forgot Poland")

Turkey is in Turkey.

Austria in german is Österreich, which means "the eastern country", therefor Austria is eastern european. Its capital lies farther east than Prag.

If the Baltic countries are eastern European the Finland is so to.
