Actions
At the start of the game, you begin with two actions. Actions are, for lack of a better term, the creation of various things, inspiring civilizations to do things, declaring Dies Irae, or bringing life over into this plane. As you become more powerful, you may get more actions. Actions cannot be banked.
Civilization
Of course, we start off the game with no civilization in place - heck, nothing exists! Each deity originates from a different plane, and can create life on said plane - costing one action. They can then “import” the life, once suitable conditions have been created.
RACES have a Devotion meter. This goes in a couple of stages. 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%. This represents the proportion of a race that worships a specific god, and who they will fight for in case of Dies Irae.
CIVILIZATIONS have an official religion that can be a pantheon or monotheistic, but revolves around an aspect.
Aspects
As civilizations worship you, they stop focussing on you, and instead look towards a part of you - this is an ASPECT. Each aspect getsa set amount of extra actions to this specific civilization, although it doesn’t need to be “cashed in”.
Each aspect has an infamy meter, going from -10 (reviled) to 10 (worshipped). This really just means whether they consider you a good or an evil god. It really depends on what your aspect does.
Dies Irae
Dies Irae is a war between two gods. Now, Compacts forbid you from actually going at it in the God Realm, but your followers will always be there to fight for you!
A Dies Irae differs from a standard war in this IOT in that you are involved in it. Calling a Dies Irae is one action; ending it is another.
Winning a Dies Irae doesn’t make you more powerful, but you can eliminate another god from major following.
Tiers of Godhood
There are 5 tiers of godhood:
1: High God - 4 Actions, 2 actions per aspect.
2: Powerful God - 3 Actions. 1 action per aspect.
3: God - Everyone starts at tier 3. 2 Actions, 1 action per aspect.
4: Minor God - 1 Action. 1 action per aspect.
5: Local God - 1 Action that can only count for a civilization. Don’t fall here!
Tier increases and decreases happen practically at random, but there is some connection.
The Elder Gods
The Elder Gods function as the IOT’s random events. They won’t show themselves until life exists on this plane. Occasionally, they do good things in your name, else they do bad things. While civilizations may worship the Elder Gods, they don’t really do much.
A few more notes:
Appearance - what does it look like?
Traits - what does it do?
Sapient? - could it form a civilization?
Dies Irae orders must be given in secret, but have to be declared in public.
