tonight's felt like kind of a filler, in the sense that it wasn't surprising. But that's a good thing I guess. I admit I kind of half payed attention when I watched the episode.
Spoiler :
just a couple things were filler, like the cabin part. Not that I disliked it, but I dunno, considering there have been a substantial amount of zombies around I kind of like to think senile people would be off'd by now, even if they are random cabin in the woods hick/farmer/whatever where zombies might have just not walked by
But the zombie flux has been plenty high enough (as seen on hershel's farm, various fights in the woods this season, etc). So the Rick crew go, find senile dude, use him as bait as they run out the back and.......well that's sure a way to kill 10 minutes of show. Sure it may add to the "survivalist" mentality that they're willing to straight up kill a human who poses any threat/will use anything to survive, but that's already happened like 10 times this season that it's nothing new.
Then I know other people on teh internets were afraid the "scientist" like guy in Woodbury would be the generic "smart guy that has to go around with the bullies despite it going against his conscious, who is more informed than the rest of the town", but now I don't really get his character at all. It's unlikely that he'll have a major confrontation with the leaders of woodbury (governor and his posse), it's already well established a random guy isn't going to do jack on finding a cure (to the viewer), and he seemed to be investing in OH MUSIC AND THIS CIRCLE THING WILL HELP YOU KEEP YOUR HUMANITY.
He's not an emotional person w/ family connection or something to the soon-to-be-deceased, he's not a desperate person who has lost all hope, he's not a senile person, he's not supposed to be an idiot, so what IS he doing/what is he there for?
except make andrea look competent for once, but damn, you gotta make a "hurr durr I'll make a circle will solve everything" moment to allow competency to shine?
also wasn't he supposed to have an announcement at the night of the picnic thing and then said to the governor it'll be ready in a week or something? Doesn't look like he'll whip out something smart anytime soon.
