It's my belief that if the US withdrew it's troops from Iraq, it would quickly fall into chaos the likes of which we haven't seen yet. The purpose of this poll is to see whether most of you agree - and whether you think we should withdraw at hte same time.

Note: For the purpose of this poll, "US withdrawal from Iraq" means the withdrawing of all main combat forces by December 31, 2007. (The US Marines would still protect the US Embassy, and US ships could still come into port to refuel and the like if they wish, but all major deployment and peacekeeping efforts by American troops would end.

Poll coming.

This then means that you think that US troops are currently preventing chaos, by their presence?
I think there's already a certain amount of chaos in Iraq, but that it would get much, much worse if the US withdrew.

the goverment whould colapse in iraq, and altho its bad now.. u havent seen any thing yet...
thears already civil war, but it will get alot biger fast.. the current goverment im sure will fall within 3 years, and fighting will continu for another 20 years or so, befor one fraction overpowers the others.

WARNING: UNINFORMED OPINION AHEAD,

It seems to me that the Iraqi's situation needs to be fixed with politically restructuring the nation into some form of confederacy of quasi-indepedant states. Until that gets done and sectarian violence is averted US troops should remain there.

who cares what happens in Iraq? pull our troops out so they can go home!
Well, what happens there effects us, plus I care about other people.

im by far no republican, but any one with a brain will be able to put 2 and 2 together and figuer out what will happen..
it will only make another hotbed for terrorist orginazastions and extreamist islam.
terrorism and extreamist islam are the new nazis and communist of our world,
and thay must be eliminated at all cost.
thay dont just threaten the us, but the entier world. all of us, thay hate us simple becus we are "infideals", for our beliefs and lifstyles..
thay threaten all the world, every single one of us. thay are fanatics, and thay dont give up to easly.. if we simply withdra, iraq will acaly be a ground for terrorist training camps...
we should have just left bathist*how ever its spelt* in power, but its to late for that.. iraq wasnt in my belief houseing terrorist, trading money, or never had wmds.. i never fell for the lies..
its to late for Why we are thear...
but now we are thear, and we have to stay tell the jobs done or it will bit us in the ass

in short, extreamisam of any kind*whearther its islamic, or cristian, or jews* must be totaly wiped out..

how does it effect us? what they going to burn some more oil?
I say just use a nuke and be done with it...
I mean they have children with bombs on them blowing up our troops.

and we have troops killing them too..
dont thay have every right to fight back??
thers nothing wrong with fighting back, defending your homeland.. its exacly what we are doing too.

Are you seriously suggesting we use nuclear weapons on Iraq, killing tens of thousands of civilians and earning us the enmity of the entire world because it's too much trouble to keep the troops there? Huh? Your solution is worse than the problem.

As for "what they are going to do", may I direct you to the New York skyline, which is somewhat less full than it was in the summer of 2001? If Iraq becomes a haven for terrorists they will attack us. Or do you seriously think that Al Qaeda and the other terrorist groups will celebrate their victory over the "Great Satan" by laying down their arms and drinking some chai?

Let's see, Iraq is right next to a source of a good chuck of our oil supply, that's pretty important. They're also next to Iran which is threatening Isreal, our ally. There's also the impact on world opinion, which can effect economic investment. And this is just some crap off the top of my head. I can assure what happens in Iraq doesn't stay in Iraq.

they are not defending anything! they are nothing but terrorists...
thiers is not the view of the country, who belives we are tring to help:mad:

one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter.
im not saying we shouldnt be in iraq, we need to be thear now that we are in it..
but what im saysing is thay have the right to fight back to any invasion, of any sort.
now if thay get punished or not isnt tied to weather thay have the right too..
if i fill opressed by our own goverment, do u think ill stand hear and take it?? no, i whould start blowing up brigeds, ect ect..
weather i get killed or ceptuered and punishesed, is a difrent story.

that is exactly what I am suggesting...
terrorist have no problem killing our civilians

nooo, we invaded a lagitament goverment
dont even bring up the kurds eather, thay whear rebelling and fighting on the side of the iranians.. thay, as i say, had the right to rebel, but allso iraq had the right to crush them by any means...
neather side did any thing wrong.

where is the "Iraq would be stabilized after the US engaged Syria and Iran diplomatically and withdrew it's own forces" option?

Iraq becomes a sespool of chaos, the US should leave this quagmire and should care less about the Iraqis because they dont like it when we try to help them and consider us "crusaders".

where is the "Iraq would be stabilized after the US engaged Syria and Iran diplomatically and withdrew it's own forces" option?
I'm highly skeptical to that being a workable option.
