I'd like to think my reputation isn't such that people assume I call others mistaken for no reason.

Given that you said when you came back that you wanted to get into less arguments, I think you believe that you already have a specific reputation.

And?

The fastest way to get into any argument is to just tell someone that they're wrong with no explanation.

I'd like you to reconsider that, so that you can change for the better.

*fewer arguments

(this correction is totally not an example of telling someone that they're wrong with no explanation).

Get out of here, Stalker Stannis. :P

Somewhat related: You know how there are those apps which give you a "word of the day" or something like that? Are there any websites that offer a fact of the day (with sources)?

Wikipedia's article of the day.

Yeah, that works, although I was thinking more factoid instead of informational. Like specific details about something instead of "here, read everything there is to know about 1920s Poland".

Erm… quite a few of the larger news portals have that kind of thing.

Oh hey, that's awesome. And pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! Just you guys wait until I can start contributing to this thread in earnest.

That's why I mentioned the article of the day.

Your name is Davy what now?

Last name's a state secret. ;)
We can simply pose as members of the press and ask the fuzz about that skinny little high-schooler who chased down eight dudes who were at the school entrance bullying him and defeated them with awesome karate chops.

Do you like going by Dave or Davey? I hate it

I usually say my name is David in public or in professional settings. People are incapable of spelling "Davy" it seems like, especially here in Vancouver where there's a street spelled Davie. I've also received a few phone calls from people who pronounce it like "Davv-eee" which is just nonsense.

In just about all my personal relationships I stick with Davy.

I've never met another person IRL with the same spelling. All I've got going for me here are Crockett and Jones.
