TIL that the German space agency (DLR) has released a spectacular 3D map of Earth.
Built from images acquired by two radar satellites, it traces the variations in height across all land surfaces - an area totalling more than 148 million sq km.

The most interesting feature of the map is something I have suspected for a long time - New Zealand does not exist!

Hmm. It has been awhile since ainwood posted...

Speaking of places existing, neither does the little island between Greenland and Baffin Island. I guess Canada and Denmark can stop fighting over it.

Oh, and I don't see Hawaii, either. Now where are Canadian couples going to spend their 25th wedding anniversaries?

It might just be that the country was moved into a pocket dimension because of the implosion caused by certain recent sporting developments which shall not be enquired into out of respect for the bereaved mourners, but the conspiracy theory is actually this ‘Australia’ existing, you know.

Today I learned that a few years ago, the US embassy in Australia accidentally sent out a picture of a cat.

I fail to see why they had to apologize.

Hmmm. Does Snerk have the inclination and the necessary skillz to haxor an embassy for the lulz?

Maybe the whole population couldn't bear the defeat and decided to pull a wave over its collective head (in the words of the great Australian comedian, Fred Dagg).

Or the Bering Strait.

It's the RISK map.

TIL that my contract says I'm not supposed to use sick leave when my kids are sick. I'm supposed to use "special leave" instead. I can use 3-5 days of special leave each year, but it doesn't accumulate and nobody keeps track of it. If I need more than this amount of leave, then I can use my sick leave for sick kids. Effectively, this would mean I get several more sick days each year, except that nobody actually uses special leave for sick family members - we all use sick leave.

Please, I would not try to make fun of the defeated.

TIL that if you put a little bit of toilet paper in the bowl (2-3 sheets works) before having a bowel movement it keeps it from plopping and splashing water.

Spread your knees as wide as you can and then lay forward as far as possible. Pooping from an upright seated posture constricts your large intestine.

Hey, you asked.

Yeah, learning about this changed my life, and it can change yours too.
