TIL that Apple products can't be used by "bad guys" in movies.

So their product placement contract specifies that said placement can't be with the villains? I guess that makes at least some limited sort of sense.

Well, they want their products to be associated with good people, I guess, since they want their customers to feel good about using their stuff ("I use Apple products so that means I'm a good person").
 
That, plus they probably understand the possibilities of resulting memes. After all, what kind of captions could you put to a screen cap of Darth Vader tapping on an iPad?
 
Star Wars had datapads on screen as early as Episode I, long before the iPad.
 
Branded electronics are all over movies and TV. Apple just wants their product placement dollars to be shown being used by good people and not criminals.

There is (or was; I first read this 10-15 years ago :eek:) a clause in iTune's EULA saying you couldn't use it for nuclear weaponry. :think:
