"May the devil walk behind you" is a traditional Scottish parting saying, hoping that the Devil never catches up with you.

TIL: Both Clinton (749) and Obama (697) managed to get more electoral votes than the Democrats in the period 1968-1998 combined (678). And half of that came from Carter (346).

This would be the same Iraq that's currently in the midst of enemy occupation, civil war and so on? Quite frankly, I think human rights organisations are already busy with the existing issues.

So this practice only gets criticized when it is successful, i.e. the country carrying it out manages to live in relative peace and stability despite being a terrorist magnet. Do you see anything questionable about that?

I seem to recall that the UN charter forbids deporting your own citizens. :hmm:

I misspoke, sorry. The Iraqis aren't "deporting" them out of the country but removing them from their home province.

While it is nice you aspire to parallel Israel to Iraq, it still holds true that at least in Iraq there aren't vast province-spanning prison-camps where the army just blows another race of people sky high so as to protect the local chosen race. Pretty heavy difference, you can TIL as well (or keep the politics out of the TIL thread would be another idea :) ).

TIL Kyriakos doesn't know how to have fun.

TIL Miss Cleo died.
I also learned the guy who played Garibaldi in Babylon 5 died.

Sad times.

i didnt know state legislatures (US) mostly meet like 90 days out of the year in one session. I guess it makes sense, just I never thought about logistics of it, nor did I think about the spacing of the sessions (all are pretty much a spring session, say january - april timeframe). I don't pay attention, but I assume there's a lot of legisltaure problems with appropriation and such, states not having approved budgets and so forth.
