Oh for sure. Democratization of identity too, but then that's deeply conservative. Goodness and badness all rolled up.
 
But big companies can't make as much money that way. I'd prefer a button that says "Buy my data for this much money: $_____ per year."
 
Lol! Now that might be a rationale for a basic income, seeing as I can't imagine it's ever going to be voluntary to press the button. It's already pressed for kids that are yet to be born.

Also, something about the Silicon Valley bubble and how GDP measurement is stupid.

It is stupid to some degree. But California has a pretty strong real economy. It's wracked by inequality and the various inefficiencies that spring from that, of course, but still.
 
Gotta say I'm sceptical to the continued economic prosperity of a place that needs to import water
 
Drought + it being expensive to invest in desalination plants and grey-water recycling regulation + being part of a nation that is mostly not suffering from drought = not needing to do anything except import.
