TIL: Today I Learned

Don't worry, there are plenty more provinces for this project to fail in.:D

Well today I learned that you can peel those eggs if they are boiled.

Before I boiled them soft and easy and when I tried to peel them everything breaks apart. Shame.

So today my wife took those yummy eggs from me and simply put them under running cold water for a minute and peeled 6 perfectly cooked yummy eggs in less than a minute.

Not a scratch on one of them! Obviously I am not the master of this kitchen. :)

But the eggs were washed!
Wait, you don't open your eggs under running water?
I have never washed an egg nor seen an egg washed. This is all a fowl lie. [pissed]
I found out about this while googling what to do with the stuff in my fridge after the power outage. In the US and Canada, store bought eggs are always refrigerated... the eggs are pre-washed by the producers, something to do with the fact chickens aren't vaccinated for salmonella the way they are in Britain.
Oh, I hadn't thought of that. I should've thought of British farmers' addiction to vaccination and antibiotics.
What about the people who don't have cell phones?
Sucks to be you?
Haha, no, we are free, you bluepill.

If only British farmers regularly dosed their animals with antibiotics, the world may well be a healthier place in the future.

Quebec is a perpetual disaster so not a huge loss there.

:shifty:
Before you and Evie get into an argument, you should know that it's customary to make up and be nice between St Jean Baptiste Day and Canada Day, right? :mischief:

Apparently Alberta is supposed to get this warning at 1:55 pm tomorrow (local time). I can hardly wait.

Well mate, if they are boiled you can, don't try it with raw eggs pls!

Or do! Either way they are washed eggs,

What o_O?
Unnecessary use of antibiotics is probably #1 cause for increased antibiotic resistance, which is currently one of the top threats to human health (especially in combination with the lack of new antibiotics).

If only British farmers did that, then the world would likely be a safer place. That is, I am absolutely certain that many other countries indulge in that short-sighted practice as well.

Ah, okay, works with the emphasize.
Would be better if it wasnt the case at all.

(not sure what the impact of the Salmonella vaccine is; Salmonella are a normal part of the chicken microbiome... wonder if this has been researched)

Open a raw egg under running water, let it collect into a cooking pot, then poach the egg.

TIL The Canadian Government just tested a new emergency alert system that broadcasts on all cell phones.
How many Canadians here had their cell-phones give off an alarm around just before 2:00-ish ?

So this is going to happen here in BC today in an hour and a half.

I checked the compatibility list and it looks like my provider isn't on it. I guess I'll find out soon if I will hear an alert before I get engulfed by nuclear fire or fall into the ocean because the seaboard snapped off in an earthquake.

Poaching makes you an outlaw. Frying just makes you a frycook.

Try to fry a poached egg or poach a fried egg. Not advisable!

That would make you the Enemy of The State Kitchens, so don't even try!
