Times For Heroes: Chapter 1, Origins

Military of Amonomo

Amonomo- The regular rank and file of the Amonomo tribes. They are armed with their household weapons, which are continuously honed to perfection through the generations. The common Amonomo usually caries a Naginata, or a Wakizashi. Each Amonomo comes equipped with a bow, usually used for hunting, but we can all use our immagination on the military application of the bow.
Dai-Amonomo- The elite Amonomo, who wear the strongest armor available, and are almost always armed with a Kitana, unless a specific Dai-Amonomo personally excells in the use of a different weapon. Like regular Amonomo, they carry bows as secondary tools, who's main purpose is to hunt on the run.
Gilimakiri- The light cavalry of the Amonomo tribes. These spider riders usually carry a naginata, and many javelins, so as to effectively skirmish. The pouncing power of the spider is more than enough to send the most well armed foe to the death bed. Very maneuverable, even able to traverse calmer bodies of water.
Dai-Gilimakiri- The heavy cavalry of the Amonomo tribes. These spider riders take pride in the glimmering armor on their spiders, and spend plenty of time making sure that every leg of the spider can be used as a weapon on the battlefield, via spikes and the sort. Nothing is more devastating than a Dai-Gilimakiri charge. These spider riders are nowhere near as maneuverable as their lighter armed counterparts, and would sink like a rock in water, no matter how calm.
Amonomo Wiseman- These are the arcane arts chapter of the Amonomo. When an Amonomo warrior reaches an age to where he is no longer combat effective, he will turn his concentration to the arcane arts, which turn him into a Wiseman. These are usually a cornerstone in an Amonomo battle strategy. Having a concentration of these fire fireballs into a section of the enemy's formation, or blocking off a section of the battlefield to enemies by creating thickets of barbed-wirelike thorn bushes are just a couple of the many uses the Wisemen provide to the Amonomo war host.

Whups! Double Post!

Hey Vert feel free to do what you want to do. I'd be happy to have you do naga, but its up to you of course.

Naga hero would be pretty bad ass.

Is it too late to change some things? I thought that we were only allowed to have one Patron God for each nation, but if we can have to, then I would like to make a change. Also, since I wasn't sure if we could do it, I didn't buy anything.

@ EQ, I am trying to do my initial spending and was wondering if we have to use it all now as initial setup and then rely on income later or if you can bank some. Also was wondering about magic units for the military is there a standard mage or would they have to be UU's?

Sure, I will accept changes like that until right up till the update.

You can bank points if you'd like; remember though that only one tech can be researched a turn, so take that into consideration if you try to spend it all at once.

All right, realized I did not directly address magic in the ruleset. I shall do that here, then put it in the rules.

Magic it as you may know it from fantasy literature does not exist as of yet. All "magic" which takes place in this NES will come in the form of divine involvement, through use the gods' agents or other "miracles." True magic will enter in the next chapter of Times For Heroes.

I see the Toata as the Kobold race. The one heroes whet their blades on for the first time. The small tribes that wonder around the continent could only be a threat to the inexpericed hero. However, a nation of Toata...that's more of a threat.

OOC: Hmm... this seems familiar.:p Oh well EQ is a better mod and playing in a proper fantasy NES at the same time as modding one might be fun. It will also make it easier to steal ideas.

Ourim (OW-RIM)
Good
Strength: 6
Intelligence:1
Ingenuity: 1
Mysticism: 2
Diplomacy: 0

Basic physical description

Ourim are a beastial race; that is they resemble animals more than humans. They are a bipedal, humanoid species covered in fur. The main differences, other than being covered in fur, between them and humans are: Ourims are stronger and possess faster reaction times; Ourims possess a more canine, or occasionally feline, head with carnivorous teeth; Ourims have claws on their hands and feet, particually feet, that are blunt and used to improve grip when they are climbing or running on all fours; they are capable of using all four legs for running like dogs, cats etc. and finally they are carnivorous preying on animals sapient or not though they prefer prey that is not more intelligent than them: animals. Even the most insane and beastial of the Ourim would not harm, could not harm, an Elven.

Background and Creation

The Ourim were another race made by Leifeimara after she made the Elven. She made the Ourim when she saw that though the Elven maybe powerful magic-users and they may possess some of the greatest minds in Azmenaal they were weak. They were weak of body and would need protectors strong of body to serve and protect them until they had developed their magical powers and their minds enough to be able to match the other races blow for blow in battle. So the Ourim were born made to serve and protect the Elven until they reached the height of the powers inside them.

Hero

Hero Name: Watcher Yelloweyes (a translation from the Ourim language that as you can imagine is mostly comprised of gunts, barks, snarls, howls and body language not words)
Race: Ourim
Favored God: Leifeimara
Allies With: Warden and Elven in general
Enemies With: none
Strength: 6
Intelligence: 1
Ingenuity: 1
Mysticism: 2
Diplomacy: 0
Inventory: none
Background: Watcher Yelloweyes is one of the strongest of his species both physically and mentally. Naturally many demanded that he should become leader of the Ourim but he refused and disappeared off deep into the forests. Even with the Elven helping them the Ourim never found him. Now ten years on he has returned and he has pledged to serve leaders of the Warden to the best of his capabilities.

OOC: EQ please may I request harsh punishments for players playing as the Ourim who break the instinctive alliance with the Elven without first informing me they are going to do so and getting my permision and confirmation that their reasons for doing so are good enough.

Anantnag Military

Saisk - The standard warrior of the Anantnag Kingdom, typically equipped with a Blade, called a Sizin, this blade is similar to a broadsword but the bottom 1/3 of the blade is serrated per Naga custom. They also carry a spear designed to be used as either a hand weapon or to throw like a javelin.

Sasan - They are the archers of the Anantnag Kingdom. They carry a pair of daggers known as Kriss which are about 13 inches long and serrated per custom for the lower 1/3 of the blade. They bow is typically an ornately carved heirloom that has a scale of each ancestor who used it added to the hand hold. The arrows are nasty affairs designed to slice easily in but are barbed so they cause even more damage when removed. Some Sasan even spit some of their own venom on the arrows for added effect (not may do though as they bite of a Naga is a last defense).

More to come.

@ EQ - per orders I purchased Archery.

Orders will be taken in effect with the update, only gave Amon Husbandry when he created as part of that, to save me a bit of time later.

@Vertinari: We'll see.

And here I present you... the first people in the Warden Army!

Warden Units
Andur: warriors of the Warden Nation, trained since they are infants. They are sometimes chosen for their strenght, but the existence of the Ourim, with whom they are naturally allied, makes this normally unnecessary. However, their natural ability with the sword, lance and javelin is what makes of them some of the most priced warriors in Azmenaal.
Legol: only those with the keenest eye and the fastest reactions make it into the Army as archers. Their wooden arcs propel their arrows at speeds that only a preying bird would be able to equal, and their ability to search their objectives and feel the wind around them makes the Legol a very difficult enemy to escape from. They are also trained as swordsmen with the Andur, but this isn't normally needed as their fast shooting makes it difficult even for the most strong enemy to reach their ranks.
Ulric: the ones in whom the Council Sages or Auld Stil notice the natural feelings of a healer are introduced into the corps of the priests of the Nation, who may act as spiritual guiders and healers for the main population, or do the same in the army, where their fellow fighters need guidance or medical attention whenever they are away from the fighting.

@EQ: I bought Archery and already edited the first page of my nation. This aren't supposed to be different units from the official ones (at least the Legol are like the official Archers).

@Vertinari: The story behind Watcher Yelloweyes is wonderful! I hope that someone takes your race and creates a nation near mine!

@human-slaughter: is it my imagination, or is your hero way too much like a certain TV series character?

@Milarqui That is where I gain inspiration for the name. But Dexter is a common European name and thats what I was going for more than a Dark Defender. And his dad is William not Harry hehe. BTW brownie points for mentioning the Best Show Ever.

The High Priest strode into the small cavern. His Skull-like face was forced to smile. That doesn't mean he wasn't smiling inwardly. The people he controlled had captured the human only hours earlier.

He assumed the human tied to the rock was shouting obscenities at him. He didn't care. The female was stripped, her armour of animal hide lying in the corner. The High Priest had been waiting for this moment, a test subject.

He called for the symbiote to be brought in. It was straight from the birthing pool. He senced it was one his own symbiote that had spawned this paticular one. Good. That meant more control.

The Toata had noticed the symbiotes with green sacs didn't attach themselves to the main creature, only the blue sacs. The green sacs could be used to give the Spawn-father control over a large organism. Tests on large animals had proved this. Now it was time to test on an intelligent being.

As he paced around the female, he recognised her. Almost. A few more scars maybe. Yes, some years ago, before he was high priest, he had helped in an attack on a small human farm some way north of Mirlee. She had been spared, to spread fear. This is how she repayed them? By storming into Toata territory, killing some innocents herself? The High Priest laughed a low glutteral chuckle at the irony. This just caused the female to scream more obscenities at him.

He scraped his claws across her body gently. She was attactive by currant human standards. Slightly smaller than most would like, too atheletic, the High Priest mused. He heald the symbiote in his hands. Carefully he carried it to the captive, making sure not to move the tiny tooth-like lump that caused the symbiote to kaav kairk (approx. join souls).

He placed it on the female's abdomen. He moved it around, trying to activate the tooth. It held, and soon the screaming stopped. The female was no longer breathing. Her eyes had all the colour drained from them. So far, so consitent. Now the ultimate test. He undid the bonds.

'Nankao, lako.' The corpse rose in response to the order. 'Nankao, vurk da adhol kako ad duxolv.' The corpse walked over to her armour. The High Priest smiled inside. He had done it! He, Kolal Kdadd, had created a mind slave, a Nankao (zombie) from an intelligent species! He absent mindedly thought of putting the zombie through more difficult tasks, like putting on clothes...

As he heard this he heard rustling behind him. He turned around to see the zombie had put on clothes all by itself. To see whether this was free will, he thought of the zombie running into the wall. It did so. His inside smile got wider. Now he needed some more...

EQ, I'm thinking of creating a race of small, warm-blooded lizardlike creatures with wings, capable of flight. Would this be allowed, or am I not allowed to create a flying species?

i'd prefer not major flight, perhaps for short ranges, but nothing too extreme.
