I did not propose an alliance, I proposed an NAP.

The tale of our Emperor is one that could fill several novels of great length. It is my job to compress this into a short, concise essay of truth that still projects his character. I hope I fulfill this project to your satisfaction.
Our story begins of course with his own beginning. He was born in 1465, another peasant child in a sea of poverty in the slums of Vienna. When a wave of disease struck the city, young Leopold was only fifteen years of age. He watched as his family died around him, one by one falling prey to the deadly disease. With nothing to live for and no one to help him, he wished for the disease to capture him with its fatal claws. Yet it never came. Out of the many members of his family located in Vienna, Leopold would be one of the few to survive. Some might have been permanently damaged by this turn of events, but this is where Leopold makes his distinction from the rest of us.
His survival against great odds made him realize his time on this Earth was limited. He was also largely dependent on himself now, and he knew it would be hard to live, nonetheless succeed in this world. Thus, at the age of the sixteen, Leopold enlisted in the Austrian army.
He quickly rose in the ranks as he impressed his higher ups in training and especially in battle. That would lead to his moment of glory, the war with the Anti-Austrian Italians. Leopold personally led several regiments into Venice, the first attackers of the city, the ones that would eventually storm the city walls and take it for Austria.
Leopold would be seen as the hero of that battle, and of the war overall. Before long, he was appointed as head general in charge of the entire Austrian army. His power and political sway in the Empire had now grown exponentially, and besides the Hapsburgs themselves, he was the most powerful man in the country. He was well liked for his charisma, and his speeches were of legendary caliber, as one soldier once said, "Leopold...could give a speech, and a thousand cowardly men would become raging savages in thier places."
He also developed a close bond with the ruling Hapsburg family. Whether this relationship was intentional for furthering his own power or for other legitimate purposes, it is no surprise that when Maximilian I ascended the throne...and with no male heirs...General Leopold would be selected to sucede him. He would marry with a daughter of the Hapsburgs to ensure the line would continue, but the reign of Leopold I existing at all is a marvel in and of itself.
So there you have it. Not great by my standards, but when talking about a particular manner such as a great person or event, I choose to go straight the point.
To the Byzantine Empire and His Holliness the Patriarch of Constantinople
From the Irish Empire and Her Holliness the Matriarch of Gallimhe, Cill-Dara, and Ard-Mhacha
It is the request of Her Holliness that the Matriarchate and Patriarchate begin dialogue to bring an end to this horrible seperation that has driven a wedge between the good Christians of our lands. May the Holy Apostles St. Patrick, St. Brighid, and St. Columba pray for you and the Holy Virgin guide Her Blessed Son to bring you salvation.
Also, you already nabbed defender of the catholic faith, the pope confirmed it somewhere.
Thlayli said:@Cuivienen: It'll fluctuate a little. In years with little war, the turn could be 3-5 years long. Conversely, if lots of conflicts are occurring I'll probably keep to 1 year per update.

To Second Leonese Empire, Holy Austrian Empire, and the Papal States
We are all defenders of the Catholic faith and purpose a much large alliance be made including all of us. A name can be decided upon latter but we wish to see what all the following parties think of such an alliance?
