From: King Leopold I of the Holy Austrian Empire
To: Byzantium
Our offer of relinquishing control of Catholic regions in Byzantium's European possessions still stands. We have had this stance all along, and will keep it. You have tested our patience for the last time, you knew exactly what you were doing. We had no problems with your annexation of Hungary, if you had proved beforehand that you had ANY respect for the Catholic faith. If we fall, it will have been in the righteous cause of protecting our fellow Catholics!
From: Emperor Leopold I of the Holy Austrian Empire
To: Christian Spain
Who do you choose...your fellow Catholics, or a blasphemous Empire that has time and time again chose to oppress them rather than accept them. For whatever reason, those in Constantinople have found it fit to test our will, friend. You have recently finished a crusade against the Andalusians and for that we are grateful, but do you not remember a time when the Byzantines allied with the Andalusians? They only backed away from it due to your superior military! They sought to test us then too and we succeeded as a faith.
I call for a joining of forces against the Byzantine menace, or at the least, we hope for your neutrality. At the very least, your alliance within the Catholic League offsets any mutual pact you had with the Byzantines.
