**** Game is Full ****

This is a test PBEM of the latest version of my Typhoon of Steel
scenario, an adavanced version of the conquest Pacific game.

The players:

Dazz_G is the US
Misfit Travel is Japan
Loulong is the Commonwealth
Justus II is the Netherlands.
I will try China

Special rules:
No city razing.
Guerillas cannot be loaded onto transports.

If you have not played this scenario before, go to this thread:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=90365
and download the documents in post #4 for a description of the
scenario.

If you have played in the version 2 PBEM these are the changes:

1.
Heavy bombers can no longer be built directly. I have added a new
small wonder, the Boeing Aircraft Co. which builds one heavy bomber
unit every 4 turns. In order to build heavy bombers you need to
build the wonder, the prerequiste is advanced construction so the USA
can start building it right away, but Japan has to research the tech first.

2.
The betty bomber, replaces the standard bomber for Japan. The
betty had very long range for a two engined bomber but very
little protection. Thus the betty has a range of 12, 2 more than
the standard bomber, but it has a defense strength of 1 rather
than 2. Being a 2 engined bomber it is cheaper, 100 shields
instead of 120. Other specs are the same as the standard bomber.

This is the short version of the scenario, but I made it slightly
longer, 40 turns instead of 32 so we can try out more of the tech tree.
VP limit is 60K

If you still need a Netherlands player, I'm interested. I've downloaded and tested the SP version, taking a few turns, everything seems to work OK (although the Dutch lose a couple ships in undefended ports on turn 1, I assume that's intentional?). Will there be a seperate thread for Allies to discuss strategy, or will it be via email?

Edit: OK, I see that the pre-landed Japanese troops are only in the SP version, so maybe in the MP version, I'll have a chance to react before my fleet is scuttled! :)

Good, that means the game is full. I'll send out full instructions to
everyone tonight, including where you can download the version 3
files. Justus, can you please PM me with your E-mail address.

Allies strategy session are conducted by e-maill for security reasons.

I did some pretty extreme things in the SP version to give the AI a chance,
won't happen in the multiplayer version.

As I have said on the ODT board, I am moving home at the moment and therefore I am likely to be very erratic for the rest of this week ... please be patient with me :)

By the way, what is the play order ... is it the same as the standard Pacific scenario ?

OK ... moving house is now in its final phase which means my computer (with Civ 3) is packed up and on its way to my new home. It will easily be Saturday night/Sunday morning before it is unpacked and set up.

I can see, using my computer here at work (without Civ 3), that the turn has arrived safely in my inbox but I cannot play it until I get the computer set up again.

I shall play it as soon as I possibly can.

Sorry for the delay.

Turn sent to USA.

Pearl Harbour was a disappointment with only 3 ships sunk, 1 fighter and a cathedral destroyed.

China got pounded, losing all but one of its border fortresses.

Good luck to all.

** UPDATE **

Moving has gone smoothly although it has taken a lot longer than expected. I have just finished unpacking and have set up the computer but unfortunately I have run out of time as I have to go to work now.

I promise I shall play it when I get home, approx. midnight GMT.

Sorry for holding everything up ... at least after this, it shall be business (and gaming) as normal.

Managed to play this a little earlier than expected.

Played and sent to Lou (Commonwealth)

I-21 (Sub) north of Pearl sunk by bombers.

Stack north of Manila bombarded.

Tank northeast of Manila destroyed by GI.

Transport south of Guam sunk by sub.

I have noticed a small bug, although I don't really know if it is a bug with the scenario or if it is a problem from C3 itself ... I was rebasing some aircraft onto carriers and I noticed that one aircraft wasn't listed on the carrier - it was listed at the top of the stack of ships. The carrier capacity wasn't reduced by one either. I may find next turn that the aircraft has disappeared or it may show up on the carrier.

Got it but I just came back from an oversaty at one place. Played most of my PBEMs and sent them. This one (first turn needs time) and others I will do tomorrow as I am nakered and it is past bed time already.

Japan has struck again. Guam, Manila, Rangoon, Kumming, Hankow and Nanning have fallen. Lost 1 infantry taking all of those cities, but the damn flak gun in Kumming knocked 2 of my infantry down to 1 hp before dying). Chinese and Commonwealth bodies are strewn over the landscape. Eric_A didn't need any more bad luck, but I popped an MGL which has turned into another infantry army to pound down his infantry / artillery stack outside Kumming.

Not sure what Dazz_G was thinking by leaving a bomber and fighter in Guam. They died when the city fell.

The warning about Japan sneaking in behind Kumming came a little too late, I'm already there. I suspect the Commonwealth position in Burma is compromised. (Next turn we will know for sure).

I learned my lesson, losing a transport last turn. I had no luck finding the Pearl Harbour fleet (which is of course NOT A GOOD SIGN), but I sank the entire Phillipine squardron of 3 DDs and 3 subs. (I almost missed the last sub NE of Davao). Most of the other subs in the Mid Pacific should also be at the bottom of the ocean. I lost a DD taking out one of the subs, but other than that, just a few HPs damage on some units.

The Dutch navy decided to make a stand NE of Singapore - they lost. (Suggestion - if you don't have sure fire kill, pull your navy back out of range, or at least behind air cover).

Good luck all.

Those were the aircraft that were in Manila prior to withdrawal ... Guam was the furthest destination I could rebase them to - I just had to hope that Guam wasn't one of your first ports of call.
