Troll Jailed

I'd jail his ass for being a 29 year old liking like a grade school kid. He should have outgrown that behavior 20 years ago.

On a more serious note, I don't agree with this being against the law. At the worst he should be forever banned from those sites and maybe be sued by the families, but prosecution?

The concept of a reasonable person is pretty central in common law. It works rather well and has been precisely defined through hundred of years of case law. It is not obnoxiously vague nor particularly open to abuse, and to say that it should be abandoned shows a certain ignorance of common law systems.
Alright, pretend I didn't say anything.

God, what an arsehole. Definitely got what he deserved. However I'm concerned about the wording of the law he's being prosecuted under. It just seems like Australia (and the UK, for that matter) is the kind of place where this could be used to prosecute disproportionately when applied to other cases of internet harassment.

The court was told that man told police he was distressed his name had been used to make such comments.
This is one of the worst sentences I've ever had to read.

While I would in no way condone his behaviour, it also has to be said that anyone who thinks that a sensible way to make a memorial to a dead child is to make a public internet page, that anyone in the entire world can post on basically anonymously, is incredibly naive and asking to have their feelings trampled all over.
