Two girls who sunbathed on train tracks hit by train.

Active railroad tracks is a "popular spot where people hangout" ? What sort of town is this?

Apparently you've never been to Maine.

"Two girls who sunbathed on train tracks hit by train."

THIS DOES NOT SURPRISE ME.

Twas foul play!

So trains can be quiet? That's freaky. Still you'd think they'd feel it coming on the rails. And not to sunbathe on rails in the first place.

Am I the only one who saw they were skipping class, and whose first thought was "well, they're not gonna do much skipping now"?

Quite probably... that's possibly why I'm still giggling so hard a day after reading it.

Sometimes I get really, really, mad at someone, and I consider, for just a brief second, killing them. Then I realize how doing so would land me in jail, ruin my life, and unnecessarily end the life of a human being. Then I think, wow, for a second there I was considering killing someone, and I realize how fragile everything in life is when all it takes is a couple seconds of stupidity to destroy a life's worth of rationality.

But never, not even for a brief second, has it ever crossed my mind to sunbathe on train tracks, and for that I am glad.

This story just reeks of irony... Two girls who care about their appearance so much that they cut class to sunbathe are dismembered while sunbathing... Just another reason to stay in school I suppose.

what a great place to sunbath..:dubious::wow::dubious:

This is why I do my sunbathing in a controlled, safe environment. Like a tanning salon. I'm really looking forward to the melanoma.

Dang elitists, why can't you just tan on the beach like an average Joe?

that'll be "average 'Jane'", tyvm, and I do tan on the beach. That's where the true elitists go and spend our precious time at. Along with fat, old, ugly guys that gawk at us.

Why people seem to think that nasty things automatically require sympathy is beyond me. Sympathy is a function of empathy; being able to imagine oneself in that position. Everyone could be hit by a careless driver, so it's natural to sympathise with a road-crash victim. Most people don't go to sleep on railway tracks, and so sympathy from them would be very unnatural.

Most people can imagine getting hit by a train, which is what happened to these girls.

Well, they'll never again take anything for granted when in the immediate vicinity of RR tracks. Limbs lost. Lesson learned.

As a side note, my great-grandfather worked on that particular railroad. Used to spend my summers up there. A lot of the bridges are popular hangout spots for swimming. But, the idea of falling asleep on the tracks is always ill-advised.

A month ago a guy got hit by a train not far from my house. He had an i-pod gimmick, and was on a bike. My neighbour described it like this:

He was on a bike and had one of those i-pod gimmicks. He stopped infront of the rails. Looked to his left. Proceeded across the rails. Got hit from a train coming from his right.
It was a marked crossing, with a bell signal and a blinking light...

I thought that was stupid. But these girls.. oh, man, thats some top-score idiocy.
