Siam: Guarentees you don't fall behind in other areas while going for a diplo victory.
Japan: Not very useful, except when you're exchanging blows between two equal units.

Russia's UA is great in mp games and also in sp ones. Provides extra hammers, and extra gold when you sell ressources. Egypt's UA is not strong enough. I would like to see 30% instead.

Russia's UA is better on King and above, the AI has a lot more gold to trade for.

(+) Siberian Riches : Good production, good money generation from resource sells. Tons of special units to achieve a domination victory at higher levels where carpets are common

(-) Furor Teutonicus : Saves some coin on units which was a much needed buff, but still getting extra warriors / archers in the first 100-150 turns is helpful. Getting extra those same units in the later eras though is silly, as some barb camps still get those out dated units rather than the more modern ones they are supposed to have.

Germany: you almost do not need to create an army and can afford a bigger one but still not good enough.

Because of the really early and free advantage of getting early policies alone this one is great. Add the early extra tiles and this one is the best of this list IMO.
Getting culture from kills is a nice one, but doesn't do too much for a cultural win. It's too little and situational.

Germany is a weak, second-tier civ--which it shouldn't be. Obviously the UA is weak too.

Just played my first game with Korea and was very impressed--they are a science powerhouse to rival Babylon.

I'll vote for Egypt, whose UA works in concert with ANY type of gameplay. To win a game, chances are you are building 8-10 wonders, meaning that if you do the math, you are getting around 2 free wonders a game. That is a LOT. Marble+Aristocracy+Egypt can be very powerful.

India's UA is just too situational...for building a vertical empire only. It is the only UA that can actually hurt you. It basically rules out domination play, and even in a sprawling science attempt it can be a millstone. India can only really help you win a :c5culture: win, and even then, I would rather just have the :c5culture: a Siam, France, or Polynesia can provide.

favorites probably Mongol Terror, the difference between 3 move units and 5 move units is huge, but out of these, Persia, France's is better but I like Persia's for the simple reason that GAs have a military bonus and it's fun having my GAs coincide with conquests instead of random years of peace

my reason for voting down Germany's really just my luck, went out of my way to kill dozens of barbs in the one game I played as Germany and I got a whole 3 units out of it, and the upkeep discount sounds nice but really isnt that significant

also fwiw I have no DLCs

Indian UA is especially useful in large empires. Unhappiness mostly come from population not number of cities. And with Indian UA every city with more than 6 citizens produce less unhapiness than normal.

The problem with that is, that the enhanced basic unhappiness per city, extremly hinders early expansion, which makes you fall back in science, gold and so on... For me, probably the worst trait. Later in the game happiness is not such a big deal anyway, at least in most of my games, even when I have a large empire.
The UU of India is mounted - I almost never build mounted units!
The gold bonus of the UB comes with Flight, when the game is almost over!
=> Trait, UU and UB are all one of the worst in the game

France shows the complete opposite to that. The culture bonus is extremely powerfull in the beginning! Both UU are one of the strongest of their eras!

Don´t worry... I only put the UA in count for my decision here! Just thought, that has to be said!

Germany's fun to play but its UU comes with too much baggage - too much good luck and you run out of money/production early. Not enough good luck and you don't get your free army. Just too much of tightrope to count on (but it is fun).

I think people underestimate Monty's advantage over France. Get a half dozen Jaguar warriors up and moving to kill barbs and it will steamroll the policy tree far better than the 2 pts per city. And it doesn't go away - late in the game you can be getting anywhere from 30 to 60 points cultural points per kill for units. And by the time FFL and musketmen roll around, your Jags will have enough to promotions plus the woodcraft, 50% jungle bonus, 2 pts healing to put them in their place.

In any case, I seem to do better with Monty than Nappy.

Though if I was voting strictly with my brain, the Babs would win hands down.

This is not a valid reason.
Also when creating these polls consider that for -2 +1 it will take Numberofpossibilities*Startingpoints votes to win, so do not start too high up or use -3 +1.

Ontopik, I also like the France UA and that is maybe the most versatile and powerful, but hunestly it is boring.

Spain is fun, Polinesia is fun, Aztec is fun.

India: Only good for small empires. Small empires usually aim for culture. There are a lot better UA's for pursuiting culture victories. Additionally, India's UA makes you inflexible. If you decide that you want to expand more after a while... well you get the point.
Russia: This UA is great for just about everything except very small empires (OCC).

France: As said before. A very solid UA which helps regardless of maps, other civs, playstyle and on top of that you don't have to do anything for it. Or leave something else for it.
India: Too limited. Nice for one style of playing, but it is way worse then all the others mentioned, I think.

India - doesn't appeal, never used, not interested to give it a go
Persia - good bonus and is good fun
it makes an interesting game, utilising the right wonders/great ppl/techs and timing the lovely Golden Ages to co-inicide with planned conquests/wars
