Unit requests thread

I got the French Medic, but there are like 3 nifs and like a TON of files. When I load the game with it, it looks like a modern worker, though.

I got the French Medic, (IDK the link.) Here's what I have:
<UnitArtInfo>
<Type>ART_DEF_UNIT_MEDIC</Type>
<Button>Art/Medic/Button.dds</Button>
<fScale>0.44</fScale>
<fInterfaceScale>1.0</fInterfaceScale>
<bActAsLand>0</bActAsLand>
<bActAsAir>0</bActAsAir>
<NIF>Art/Medic/Marine Worker.nif</NIF>
<KFM>Art/Medic/modernworker.kfm</KFM>
<SHADERNIF>Art/Medic/modernworker_fx.nif</SHADERNIF>
<ShadowDef>
<ShadowNIF>Art/Units/01_UnitShadows/UnitShadow.nif</ShadowNIF>
<ShadowAttachNode>BIP Pelvis</ShadowAttachNode>
<fShadowScale>1.0</fShadowScale>
</ShadowDef>
<fBattleDistance>0.35</fBattleDistance>
<fRangedDeathTime>0.31</fRangedDeathTime>
<bActAsRanged>1</bActAsRanged>
<TrainSound>AS2D_UNIT_BUILD_UNIT</TrainSound>
<AudioRunSounds>
<AudioRunTypeLoop/>
<AudioRunTypeEnd/>
</AudioRunSounds>
</UnitArtInfo>

But this makes the unit look like the modern worker, the guy with orange clothes. I don't know what files to put, the French Medic has multiple Nifs and such.

Hello,
is someone interested to make a totally new Cuirassier for my Italian civ based on the picture below?

Thank you in advance!

Spoiler :
attachment.php

please, is there the possibility for someone to make this unit?

I might try my horse cannon, actually. I'm starting to learn unit design. I'd think it would really just be putting the horse and the canon together, making a few modifications, and somehow synchronizing the animations. Synchronizing the animations would be the hardest part.

Is the horse cannon completed meanwhile, or did you cancel this design? It would really be interesting, I think.

I think it would be cool to have a Blackbird (air/spy unit) that would be expensive to build, similar to a national wonder. It could travel around the entire map and investigate any city on the globe. The launch sequence would be similar to a nuke. Once launched, you had visibility over the city's fat cross, and could even investigate the city screen itself.

It already exists in the (RoM) Rise of Man Mod and probably in Afforess (AND) A New Dawn Mod too. although I have never been able to play that far in it. Although it doesn't work as you describe it is more like a long range surveillance jet, and you need to build a secret military base national wonder to get it.

Wow....I actually had an answer for something...nice!

Good to hear. :goodjob:

I trimmed the armor a bit in the front, I hope now it looks more like you want it. I also have added a version without the armor. Have fun. :)

Thanks SaibotLieh!!

It's been a long while since I have had the time to work on the Pictish mod, but lots of spare time now!

I used the edits you made to create a version with the armour painted onto shoulders to see if that looks better... it doesn't ;)

The armour looks better as actual armour, but needs taking up quite a bit more I think.

Would it be possible to do a final edit on this and reduce the shoulder armour on the front of the unit as per the image below?

Hey SaibotLieh,

This is one of the other units I was talking about. It's should be quite simple to put together as it is just adjustments to the Vanilla swordsman.

There are 4 changes that would be needed:

1. to delete the shoulder armour
2. to replace sword with Pictish sword from the Swordsmaster
3. to shrink the shield a little
4. to add a small sword (Dirk) to shield hand

Illustration included to show what I mean...

Do you think you would be able to help on this one? Much appreciated if you can! :)

It's a bit hard to see from that angle how much shorter the armor should get, but I tried anyway. I hope this time it fits. ;)

No problem, the requested unit is also in the attached archive. :)

Thanks a lot, the Swordsmaster is now pretty much doine, just a few minor texture adjustments. He is perfect!! Thanks for making the vision a reality!!

Wow, that looks so awesome, has really brought the Pict to life! I will post some pics of both in a couple of days to show you the finished product!!

Thanks again, you are a star!

I agree, with this I will be able to replace the stupid standard art for the pictish unique unit (however I think it will have to be changed to swordsmaster (but still a axeman replacement))

So when can we expect the Pictish civ to be finished?

Ha, finished? :lol: Probably never, as like you I am a bit of a perfectionist ;) but I hope to have a first version up soon. I do not get as much time to work on this as I like, but am aiming for a first version in July/August... maybe a bit longer :mischief:

Actually I was going to ask your help on some leaderheads when I have some time to do some concept art for them. I have finished one, which I am really pleased with, he is Drest. Not sure which Drest he will be... there were a great many Pictish Kings called Drest, in fact it was the most common name after Drest I who supposedly ruled for 100 years and fought a 100 battles. He is first on the Pictish King list, although there were Kings before him.

I have looked at your leaderheads and would appreciate any help you could spare. I am looking for a few unique models based on concept art I could provide. May just be pulling bits from different leaderheads and combining, or maybe some creative juice of your own... if you are interested?

I could pm you the Pict civ if you wanted to have a look and get a feel. At the moment it is all just hardwired into my game, will need to seperate it into a mod once I have finished a couple more units.
