Unit requests thread

Anyone who could care to explain how I put the body of one unit onto another (like in my case the Musketeer dude on the Cuirassier horse, weapons and animations). I tried to do this the god old LH-maker way that I used when I created LH's, but it didn't work out :/
You mean a nifswap? Here you shall find answers.

Thanks! That really helped a lot :)

One request though. Can you make it so the weapon on the unit here (the one I made) uses the Cuirass texture and not the musketeer texture. At the moment it looks quite... well, not good.
For that you just have to "Block -> Copy Branch" the NiTexturingProperty and paste it at the end of the nif Block list. Then change the Properties (in the Block List) of the weapon that it links to the new NiTexturingProperty instead of the old one. Now changes in the weapons NiTexturingProperty shouldn't alter the other meshes anymore.

well you can do it now :p

I hope YOU can, would someone try and let me know? I still cannot download my own files, just for test.

I think, the Dragoon of Civilization 4: Colonization has a good pistol. It is the only renaissance pistol I know.

You have to re-upload it. As in delete the one you have and put it up again.

My mystake, i didn't fill one field, now it works!

I am just remembering, that saibothlieh's female pirates also should have a renaissance stile pistol...

Glad I could help. And everybody else, of course :D (This at dmalleus)

Question. Say if I would just like to replace the head of a unit, not the entire body. How would this process be different from normal nifswapping?
In that way that you don't swap the meshes in the nif, but reduce the size of the head of the original mesh and add a new head as child to the head bone so it acts as the units mesh instead. It's the same procedure like adding a weapon to a hand.

Can someone make some LOTR units, all I found was a Rohan pack. I am going to try to convert them to Civ 5 units anyways, but I thought there would be a lot more people making civ 4 units. It would be great if someone could make some for Civ 5 though.

I've seen the Siege Quinquereme unit in the downloads database, and would really like an improved version. Here is a graphic of a ship that was actually a little smaller the the Quinquereme as it only has three decks of oarsmen. The Roman Quinquereme had five decks! Can someone create a graphic based upon my attachment? I would love to put this unit in OGI ver 255E this weekend.

Respectfully,

I'd love to see all kinds of ancient ships reskinned from scratch. Or at least more variation to reflect very early stages of pre bronze wooden monoremes without one nail to the liburni type which the Illyrians invented. Could be used not only in ultra realist mods like Realism Incvitus or PAE but practically in any that pays attention to good unit art.

About your Quink… It seems, they believe today, that medieval and renaissance ideas and depictions of Quinqueremes with five or Deceres with ten decks, respectively, were wrong, because they wouldn't have worked in practice. Maybe it's right to assume, the number in the name of the ship type is merely referring to the number of oarsmen sitting next to each other. If there are ten men on each side, such ships would still have to be very wide and monumental in size…

I'd be happy with a 3 deck Quinquereme. Any takers out there?

I would also love to see a quintrireme. in my mod it has the same art as the trireme
