Unit requests thread

Thanks again! You always come through. To be honest I probably won't be able to test this unit for another couple of weeks, and that will be when I plug it into the Mughal civ. So I might have to come back to you, but that is doubtful considering your capabilities. :goodjob:
No problem, just take the time you need. :)
Here are the screen shots for the Pictish/ Scottish ModernWorker I finished skinning.

Thanks again, I am very happy with them :goodjob:. They will be in the eventual release of the Pictish Mod.
:goodjob:
Ahhh SaibotLieh! You are a STAR as usual :goodjob:. Thanks for that!! :D It was an unit idea long overdue. I will post a pic as soon as I finish re-skinning the model.

On another note I have a question for you. A while back we created the Pictish Swordsmaster together. While we were doing that we tried to make a Sword look a little more Pictish in origin by changing the standard Claymore of the Swordsman.

Since then I have found the perfect Pictish sword carried by the Boudicca Leaderhead in Civ5. I was excited to see her wielding an actual Pictish sword and I wondered if it would be possible to take the sword and use it in Civ4 Units and Leaderheads. What do you think?

I am aware that the two systems may use different 3D modelling, however, my hopes where up when I saw you have had a lot of success converting 3D models from other games to create your Civ4 leaderheads. Here is a pic of the Sword.
I tried to get the necessary programs working not long ago, but they all just literally hate me and/or my computer. I was able to fix some problems, but never got everything right in the end.

Anyhow, I should be able to create a similar sword from scratch if you could provide me with some images. The best ones would be plain views on different sides of the sword.

Working on a Mac, I can relate

OK, if you could, that really would be amazing!! :D It would certainly be an authentic look for the ancient units.

I put together an Image for you showing the distinctive blade, handle and scabbard.

Handle
The handle is very unique in that it looks like two crescent moons and a sun (ball). All the ancient blades have this same distinct handle shape, though the middle wooden or bone handle itself can vary.

Blade
The blade itself is wider at the tip than the base, and has a slight curve in the middle.

Scabbard
The Scabbard has a distinct Oval shape at the bottom.

If you need anything else, let me know. Of course, I can sort the textures.

Here is another angle that may help for visualising the handle... its a 3D model so its not authentic, but just provides a 3D view.

The other shot is from the Boudicca civ 5 leaderhead.

The sword should look like the other blades if possible.

I noticed there is a B-17 Bomber unit for Civ III (and V of course), but not for Civ IV. Well, that's what I'd request for the whole Civ IV community: a B-17 Bomber.

Okay, here you go, one Pictish short sword and one long sword. :)

If you need scabbards as well I can look into these, too.

That's brilliant SaibotLieh! Big Thanks!! :goodjob:

Yes, Scabbards would be great if you could.

You may remember the historical (but controversial) Naked 'Pict Brave' units we were working on. I should still like to finish those. I wanted to include a band of raiders, men and women, who were equipped with a range of equipment, from Pictish spear, Pictish sword, Pictish Axe, and small Buckler shields, so these swords will be superb.

They wore an Iron band around their waist (similar to the Torc they wore around their necks) and attached to it was the sword in scabbard, or just the scabbard (if sword was in hand). As it was the only clothing those particular units wore in battle, the scabbard was quite prominent.

I might still need some help with the Pict Brave units if you have time, and are still interested. If you are, it maybe best to PM you about those to avoid any controversy, especially if I need to post historic illustration images of the unit for development.

every time I see you post I'm like whoa that's an awesome looking leaderhead  can't wait for you to release it all :D

Thanks j_mie6! :D That is the son of Cait, leader of the ancient Caittan tribe, though the newer version looks better, but still some work to do on it.

I will post the finished Drest leaderhead for you... I just need to add the text stuff... I had forgot all about the text... and where to find it lol.

I'd kindly request an Inuit scout; with which I mostly mean a 'qamutik':
The dog sledge Inuit use. 1 Wolf/Dog with one Inuit man would be great already
If you have the time and will to make it elaborate, I'd request 4 dogs/wolves (I really think it'd be a good idea to use the wolf graphic that's already in Civ as huskies) dragging a sledge with 1 Inuit man or a family (what'd mean at least 1 man, woman and child, because those civilization units are metaphors already anyway).

So I suppose the wolf graphics would be a good start for the dog(s), and then take a catapult as a base for the sledge?
A better base for the sledge would be this unit I think:

OR
http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=11288

Then if you dig a little in this mod:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=20149
- You can find a good Inuit Archer, Axeman, Spearman and Javelineer. The archer and the spearman are the best units to put on the sledge, because their clothing is the best-done for these units.

would it be possible to add an attack anim to a worker model? Would make a good uu or a sapper; a 2 - handed warrior style anim would be quite versatile

Speaking of which, can someone make a Highlander with full Highland dress and wielding a claymore?

I need a unit with a Claymore, and the Austrin one looks rather dull. Sorry.
