Units From Wyrmshadow

Thank you both very much Oz and Wyrmshadow. :)

What would be such mods as CCM (or SOE that is not dead as many civers believe) without the brilliant units of Wyrmshadow and some other unitmakers?

Nice line-up Ozz.... But whats a MBT-11 ???? Even google can't find it ;-)

One other question; Will some of the units be in different colors?

I've lurked around these forums for years, but usually keep quiet, but if you're looking for more input, I'd recommend the Leopards 1 and 2, and some or all of the Merkavahs, whatever you find most befitting.

And I do greatly appreciate what you guys are doing. Thank you.

If it's artillery you want, then this would be my suggestion:

The MLRS

mlrs.jpg

Brief description:

The MLRS is a large (13-foot) unguided artillery rocket mounted on a tracked mobile launcher. Each launch vehicle carries two clusters of six rockets--called "six packs" by U.S. soldiers--all of which can be fired in less than 60 seconds. The MLRS warhead contains 644 high explosive grenades for antipersonnel and light vehicle engagement. Alternative warheads now in development include the Sense & Destroy Armor (SADARM) and the Terminally Guided Submunition (TGSM).

The rocket has a range of over 30 kilometers. As it nears the target, the rocket warhead splits open, ejecting grenades which fall to earth in a pattern and detonate on contact. This weapon is effective against troop concentrations, trucks and other unarmored vehicles, storage sites, and enemy weapons emplacements. The MLRS launcher is also used for the Army TACMS and the Ground Launched Tacit Rainbow, a cruise missile used against enemy radars. The governments of Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, and France are currently participating in production of MLRS launchers and basic rockets in their nations for fielding to their respective forces.

Like the Army TACMS, MLRS was first fired in combat during Operation Desert Storm. The system's initial trial by combat occurred on the evening of 13 February 1991 "somewhere near the Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait tri-border area..." when the 21st Field Artillery's Alpha Battery engaged in an artillery raid on targets in southern Iraq. The battery was used as a single firing unit, with all 10 of its MLRS launchers lined up along a 3-kilometer stretch. During the fight, more than 100 rockets were fired on several enemy positions in less than 1 minute.

:agree:
Yeah ,the "Multiple Launch Rocket System" is an older desire of mine too !
Once I`ve freaked out because there was one in the "newest uploaded files" list (can be found at the database threads on the left side). But it turned out that it was for Civ4.

An analyse of my (nicely ordered) Unit archive (7000+ units) told me that we are EXTREMLY short on `Radar Artillery` alternatives ! We have only ONE alternative. And that unit is pretty outdated.
Caused by the large user list of that military hardware I`ve found on Wiki I just dare to second the above request.

Anyway.OZs last list here sounds very delicious and tasty !:yumyum:

Let's see, 6 rockets in ea pac X 2 is 12 X 644 = 7728 handgrenades in 1 min.

644 X 100 rockets 64,400 ! ! ! THAT's Firepower. :D :D

What was it the man said. My father generation wanted weapons that they hoped they would never have to fire. We have weapons that we only have to fire once.

Gentlemen, for the record - although they are not bleeding-edge state-of-Wyrmshadow's art quality, there are nevertheless a perfectly useable Arjun by Skullbones, MLRS by aaglo, and Merkava by I-forget-who. As for modern SPA, there are also la_dav's 2 excellent 122mm units.

... And who knows what the future shall hold? ;)

Best,

Oz

Is it too late to make recommendations? I had a few:

Gepard
M103 heavy tank
MTLB
Leopard 2 (earlier, flat front version)

failing that, I would like to second the M113, Challenger, and the early model M109.

I have seen the Arjun and the Merkava around here but can not find aaglos MLRS.... Has someone got a link to either the thread or the file?

The in game Radar Artillery is the MLRS. I don't know what Aaglo's is, but the link is here.

Flic2Gif seems to be failing me ATM but here's a static preview of aaglo's MLRS (known under a variety of names.

Shall I upload it?

That´s great.:) Thank you for your generosity Oz and for your genius Wyrmshadow. :)

I vote for an up-to-date self propelled Artillery: The M-109 in the standard version of the sixties. So there exists an outdated version of the "Paladin", such a unit would close a big gap in the cold war landunits of the sixties.

A Hummel-SPA of WW 2 would also be nice and I would be glad with an up-to-date
PT-76 amphibious cold war tank. But as I can vote only one unit: The M-109 of 1962.

A second this unit along my own early mentioning of the British Challenger2 MBT.

This M109 Paladin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M109_howitzer really needs to upgrade to a better little fine unit....

Beside this M109 perhaps the Russian 2S19 Msta http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSTA could be something for unit creators.
Or the British AS-90 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AS-90

It do looks like some model to represent SP howitzers for the modern warfare are needed.

I don't have an AS-90... thanks for paying attention to the 2 obvious links to previews I posted.

Wyrm, please, surely you must know that the more obvious something is on the Internet, then the less likely it is to be noticed. For example, no one ever reads Sticky threads, or the faq and BBcode pages...

... ?
facepalm.jpg

The act of dropping one's face / forehead into one's hand. Usually accompanied by a "thunk" or a cr a cry of "D'oh!"

The only logical answer to a stupid question or statement.

to hit one's own forehead with your hand/palm, and drag it down one's face. Most often done in frustration or agitation.
Sometimes forcefully done to others for humour purposes.
