"Some of the highlights include multiple AI improvements and tweaks, worker behavior tweaks, MANY game play improvements (ex Animal Husbandry reveals horses), promotion tweaks, a softer pillage sound (requested by many, many people), fixed diplomatic exploits (gold for gold, peace treaty exploit), multiplayer tweaks (Hot seat, Lobby, etc.), memory, caching and performance improvements, etc. There were also a number of video card specific fixes."

What's next? Agriculture reveals wheat corn and rice? I mean come on! This means you practically have to have animal husbandry before planting your second city  I am out raged  Way to nerf Warmongering!

OMG not to mention Im scared to death what the "promotion tweaks" are going to be! WHAT THE HELL!!!

I seriously can't believe those bastards are trying to fix the game. The effrontery I say. The effrontery!

Moderator Action: And how may one know these changes are not for the better, if you had not played the game? You can disagree all you want, but do so in a way which reflects the forum rules. Calling people bastards goes against that exactly. Warned.

I just can't tell if you are being serious or just kidding around. I seriously hope its the latter because otherwise people who play Civilization have lost their minds. I truly hope I'm not hearing someone complain about the patch BEFORE ITS EVEN ##^%$* OUT!!!!!!????????

1) People complain before the game comes out that its taking too long
2) People complain after it comes out because it has some bugs
3) People complain before the patch comes out because its taking too long
4) People complain after the patch comes out because it doesn't do what they want it to do.

I've heard it all, but this thread is the mostly completely inane topic I have ever heard since being on this board.

Of course Im angry! Animal Husbandry reveals horses? It's like OMG I lived here for 20 years and I never saw these ton+ creatures on four leggs.

No doubt this is a novelty thread. As much mud-slingin in the general forum over these silly issues, I come in here for a bit of peace and serious talk..
People gonna have a stroke over a simple game... go take your lithium

I don't know what else to say. Firaxis, I'm sorry you have to listen to this crap, but freedom of speech and all that.

Complaining about what a patch does before its released. Now I've heard it all.

You must be angry - you can't even bother to see the logical reason right in front of you.

Big massive animals. Four legs. And with Animal Husbandry, you finally learned that you can ride them. Before, they were just a food source that ran away from you too fast to be useful.

Sheesh.

If you don't like it, it's easy enough to mod out. Weren't horses hidden in Civ III until you had a certain tech, too?

The thing that really kills me, is these chowderheads who post these topics don't realize they're shooting themselves in the foot.

Observe -

Chowderhead : Why hasn't that ^)*($ Firaxis released any information about the patch at all. This is the worst customer service ever on the planet. I am going to sue them and generally make everyones lives a misery.

Firaxis : OK, here's some info. We're finished the patch, its in final testing and here are a couple of the things you will see in it. Hope that helps

Chowderhead : WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTT? You are making horses invisible until the technology is discovered? You are all the worst bunch of *&$*^&$^%& ever to walk on the planet

Firaxis : OK, we'll never release any information in advance again. We didn't realize we would have to worry about pre-release complaints. Thanks for ruining it for everyone. Dumba55

More than likely his boss just turned him down for that promotion because of his anger managment issues... so he takes his lunch break and vents steam off in here.

The point of the blind resources is not that you didn't know that horses were there pre-AH. It's that you didn't know they were useful. Thus, the presence or absence of the creatures wouldn't have infuenced your peoples' decisions on where to settle.

This is as it should be. It isn't that you've never noticed them - it's that you didn't know how to herd, tame, train, vet and ride them.

It isn't as if it's terribly difficult to research AH before your second city is ready to place anyway.

I can't believe this thread...

You're so angry over one minor change that basically puts the same feature that used to be in Civ3 into Civ4 (horses revealed later)! And we don't even know what the promotion tweaks are and somebody's whinging about them already!

My hunch is they're going to fix the lost experience when upgrading problem.

Gee - think anyone might complain about that? :p

All you flame-lamers are ********. First of all, fien maybe you play some dumb-ass run of the mill settigns where it doesnt impact your gamestyle, wheres I play differently, and knowing where horses are is hugely important. Adding animal husbandry will change everything about the way I play, from when I place my city to what techs I research when. So yeah for you modern age junkies it may be soemthign trivial but for me its a huge change. If this was a balancing issue why wasnt it that way from the start? Maybe next patch they'll change soemthing liek the number of GP you can have per city which will make all your specialized cities worthless, then will it be a problem?

I made this thread to discuss the impact of the change on the game. If you don't care about it plz go somewhere else  This isnt a thread for you to increase your post count.

and to weasel, let me see your degree in psychology. I dont think you have one. So plz leave my thread, your observations are totaly baseless.

Actually, I'm sure you'll find most people here don't use "run of the mill settings", most of us have been playing CIV for many many many years including me who has played it since CIV 1. Don't assume by the amount of posts I have that I haven't been here a loooong time. You state that it will change everything about the way you play. So? Is that a bad thing? Change your tactics. Adapt. If it had come out this way in the first release you would not be complaining now, so whats the big deal? It wasn't that way from the start because it did not come out in their beta testing. Now it has. So they changed it. They make the game, they choose what to change. You adapt. Simple. Every new Civilzation game has been different, and you have had to change your tactics. Do it again man.

"I made this thread to discuss the impact of the change on the game. If you don't care about it plz go somewhere else This isnt a thread for you to increase your post count."

I don't mind discussing the potential impact of a change on the game, but when you post a thread entitled "Upcoming Patch Ruining the Game"? it does not make people believe you are interested in healthy discourse regarding possible changes. It just seems like you are flaming a product that has not yet been released, and you are saying that the game will be destroyed based on hearsay. People get highly irritated when they see someone posting a thread about something that hasn't even happened yet.

Thirdly, I just want to say, you may be extremely emotional about this change, but I can guarantee you it won't "ruin the game". Most people will continue playing happily, perhaps adapt their tactics a little, but if more than 2 people stop playing this game because of this change, I will be highly surprised.

'nuff said.

I think it's a great change. It adds more strategy to the game. You couldn't see horses right away in civ3 either and it definitely adds more strategy to the early game.
