We should get rid of them, but it would be tough to do. The majority of Americans would just be confused. Remember now, something like 50% of the population between 18-25 don't know where Iraq is.

They did it with the Euro, right?

I support this, pennies are useless coins.

i'm not sure if you've been answered, but no. Brussles had the idea, but AFAIK, it never went through. it may though. i suppourt it anyways.

I vote keep them.

Because it's much simpler, and we are basing our currency on a decimal system. If we get rid of it, it'll basically turn into a base 20 system for the cents part.

We need to go cashless to really save. I'm afraid that if we take out the penny, the price of everything (gasoline, electricity, other utilities especially) will immediately be rounded up. Plus, sales taxes will need to be adjusted, and there's only one direction those will go. This would hurt consumer spending, and the economy.

It ain't broke, so I don't think we need to fix it. It's antiquated, but it ain't broke, IMHO.

The money the econemy saves by not having to make or handle them would balence this out and be good for the econemy in the long run.

They do it in Australia, I agree with getting rid of them, a lot of pennies just end up thrown away anyways. Of course, with our 7%PST and 6%PST in BC, we;,
Just follow the Aussie's example.
