[MOD] v41 SVN and GithubDesktop Bugs and Crashes Single player

I can't find the ini file where I think it should be... in the same folder as the bts launcher/application, right? The C2C ini is there instead.
[username]\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CivilizationIV.ini

There's a shortcut to it in the same folder as BtS.exe is in though, it's called "_Civ4Config"

I would think you have a mix of old C2C version files and new C2C version files at the same time.
What version do you currently have, and did you install it over an old version?

The error says a python file is trying to call a function that doesn't exist, no python file tries to call that function in any new-ish C2C versions.

Yeah, seems I definitely screwed it up. I had .svn in a folder on my desktop, updated there, then copy and pasted into the appropriate folder... Overriding files.

I take it I should delete C2C, reinstall most recent version, then update to recent svn? Should the svn folder be in the C2C folder?

Always delete old version of mod before copying new version.

You can make SVN folder to be mod folder, remember to have it named Caveman2Cosmos

If unsure, look at this guide to SVN: https://github.com/caveman2cosmos/Caveman2Cosmos/wiki/Using-SVN

You don't need to install C2C before updating SVN version, SVN is standalone.
Never copy/overwrite unless you know that no files have been renamed or deleted by the mod developer between the versions.
SVN can be the folder the game loads the mod and plays from.

I went ahead and followed that advice, but now the game crashes to desktop when attempting to load the mod. Perhaps there's another issue it?

hmm, try deleting your BtS ini file in "\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CivilizationIV.ini"
Also delete the backup, the one with .bak at the end of the name.

Now I run into an endless amount of XML errors, failure to find files.

Oh, and how long is your folder path to where BtS exe is?
Mine is:
"B:\GOG\Civilization IV Complete\Civ4\Beyond the Sword"

If this is very long (around 2-3x of mine), the game will have trouble reading in some xml files that are deeply nested inside C2C.

My path is just as long. I verified file integrity, and 11 files were recovered. However, now I'm back to square one with the initial CTD problem I had.

Just to be on the safe side, try running SVN→cleanup (right click SVN folder). Just in case you initial sync with SVN repository somehow went wrong.

Have you set the game to run in a non-english language, if so, which one?
So I can test if I have issues launching the mod with that language.

Edit:
Do you get a folder called UserSettings in your caveman2cosmos folder when trying to launch the game?
If not then you may have to run the game as administrator.

I do have the UserSettings folder. It is still not working... I figured I would try starting BTS and then loading C2C from there, but it doesn't even show up in the mod list in-game.

Are you sure you have C2C in the BTS mods folder, and not in vanilla mods folder?

Example
"\Civilization IV Complete\Civ4\Mods" ▬ vanilla vanilla
"\Civilization IV Complete\Civ4\Beyond the Sword\Mods" ▬ BtS vanilla
