Vampires vs Werewolves

No, her only interbreediness was 'hotness'

Have there ever been any hot werewolves (as seen from human eyes)?

I must have been reading different books.
Vampires:
- harmed by holy water/crucifix
In the tradition I've seen, crucifixes (crucifice? :p) don't harm vampires, but vampires are unable to approach any religious symbol presented at them. This is a crucifix in 99% of cases, though. ;)

Also, a rule I hear is that they can't cross the threshhold of a private dwelling without being invited across it.

Werewolves:
- silver kills them
- identified by a pentagram somewhere on their body
Huh? Never heard the pentagram one before. The way I was told it, silver bullets were used because they inhibited the werewolf's healing, which would otherwise heal bullet wounds. Silver itself isn't deadly. (Cpl Angua of Terry Pratchett fame, for instance)

Sounds suspiciously like the Warhammer Role-playing rulebook on Vampires

So, Terry Pratchett is now an authority on all things werewolvy? ;)

When I was reading about Slavic mythology, the identifying marks of a werewolf was a birthmark or an unusual growth of hair.

Yes, I've read that too. And years ago, I heard that this birthmark was later claimed to be a pentagram.

In Buffy, vampires are hurt by crosses. I'm not sure about elsewhere.

Maybe its my age showing. In the original hollywood movie, the gypsy lady identified the afflicted wolfman via a pentagram in his hand, as I recall.

Yeah, well, we can't always trust Hollywood, I'm afraid. :)

Yeah, everything they tell us about werewolves and vampires isn't true.

On the topic of 'getting stronger with age'; it seems only some versions have that. In fact, in Blade the Elder vampires were rather weak, and made due with influence instead of power. That's why Frost was able to dominate them so easily.

Compare that to Bram Stocker's Dracula; he got more powerful, but in an arcane/creepy way. Finally, Anne Rice's vampires just got a lot more physically powerful mostly.

and more depressed....

And Ginger Snaps was another attractive female werewolf (before she transformed)

Let me slightly more clear:

Vampires - the classic version
Werewolves - the Terry Prattchett version
