VQ07 - Snakes on Pangea!!

Things look good. Napolean has had enough, and is ready to settle for peace now and will give us all his gold (150). We can sell music to Tokuagawa for another 350 gold, too :)

Oh, I forgot to mention, I made a trade with Freddie, got Engineering + all his gold for Music + (some other cheap tech).

The extra raod movement really helps...

I forgot to check with Toka at the end of my turns, or I could have sold him music too..

Nice stuff there. I'll make those two trades right away when I play tonight. Looks like I might be the setup man for the next war.

Any requests on next victim?

:goodjob: ... but why do I kill a measely lowly catapult while armstrong get to bask himself in the glory of capturing the city, and gobbling up the Chinese Empire? :gripe:

Hey at least you got to kill a catapult....

I say Tokugawa he has angered the snake collaborating with Napoleon. Although Ghandi if he is teching away like he usually does. He does tend to be light on military too..

I agree with going after Gandhi next. It looked like he had 5 cities worth keeping, and they're so close it should go quickly.

Do we still have a good amount of macers/a few cats? We could probably grab a couple of cities while we wait for our Cossacks to be trained... I doubt he has much of a counterattack force... (Poor Gandhi...)

Well as always works with my turns ....

;)

Massive negotiating even before I hit enter.
Napoleon would give us all his gold (150) + 1 gpt + world map if we would just give him 10 years of peace. :goodjob:
Music sold to Tok for 350g :goodjob:
Renogtiate with Hatty to get 2 more gpt for our wines (up to 6gpt now) :goodjob:
Figure out that Hatty is pleased with Ghandi and that Napoleon likes Tok  (just need to remeber these hits to our relations)

Hit enter and the very next turn Freddy offers us Divine Right + 50g for Education. You mean the tech that the rest of the world has? Sure thing chum(p)

There was some whipping during my turns to get those formerly Chinese cities pumping along. Our capital is putting some hammers into the Spiral Minaret for giggles (sorry, possible :smoked: moment on this but I figure to take advantage of the most popular religion out there to help our coffers).

MT comes in and we head for Gunpowder. Gunpowder would be due in 6, with the Taj in 8, so I reduced science a notch to match them up (and build up our coffers for upgrades). Same turn, Nappy completes the Hagia Sofia. Oh and Ghandi gets Nationalism.

I dropped the horse for gpt trade with Ghandi at this point and renogtiated for dyes. We still get his gold. As I'm typing this I remember why we wanted him to have horses...... :( Sorry on that mind blank!

In my last IBT, Ghandi comes asking for Liberalism and 270g in exchange for guilds. PFFT I deny that request and right away Hatty shows up offering Guilds + 360g for Liberalism. I knew I liked her. I do the trade.

We're only two techs off of complete domination - Freddy has Gunpowder and Hatty has Banking.

Gunpowder is due in 2 turns, the Taj in 3 (but we could whip it for 5 citizens right now)

Tokugowa is rising up severly in power (Freddy and he are still at war), but make sure we keep a good rear guard when we go after Ghandi. Speaking of which, be sure to extort Ghandi for his free cash prior to declaring.

Shanghai (our second head) could grow one step if we want to expand to the SW. There's a gap we could fill with a coastal city if so desired.

Not many screen shots since taking pictures of workers working is... boring.

So here's the save file. Next up will have the joy of building an impressive army of cossaks. Feel free to attack Ghandi at will, he's of no more use (and may be racing us to the Taj since he has copper and is industrious. He's had nationalism for 5 turns (by my best guess)

The Save:

Bobrath <-- just played -->Some good negotiating
GreyFox <-- UP--> Get us those cossacks old blood n guts
CosmicHail <-- on deck --> Can't wait to run wild with the Cossacks
Armstrong <-- --> Takes a city single handed
Eektor <-- OOP until July 29--> Still missing the snakey business
Maquis <--just played --> Finished off China gobble, gobble....mmmmm

Bobrath, I like the Spiral Minaret for the gold you get with all the religious buildings. So I don't think it's a smoke move just a preference.

And here's a DUH moment why were we selling horsies to Ghandi, I forget and too lazy to scroll through the thread.

We wanted him to build mounted units since cossaks have the bonus against mounted and cannon.

Aahh impressive most impressive.......

Not really :) It just seemed like the one thing we could send him that would actually set him back... Poor Gandhi... I'm starting to feel guilty...

What does copper has to do with Taj? You mean "marble".

Got It, hopefully can play tonight ... I seems to be UP in two SG ... which is getting not too common recently ...

Yup, Marble. Gandhi has a source, too... but we don't... we got a big head-start on him, though, and Beijing is a strong city, so hopefully... fingers crossed.

Aahh impressive most impressive.......

Any chance I get to mimick Darth Vader I do... Remember Empire Strikes Back when Luke escaped the freezing.

I thought you loved mowing down civs Armstrong. Ghandi should defend himself better but I enjoy mowing down Mao more. (mass murderer)

Honestly, I'm not a warmonger... it's the mechanics that force me too... :mischief:

For whatever reason, I feel bad about declaring on Gandhi... he's always a very good neighbor who will just sit at your border and peacefully build (and take the wonders you want...)... it'd be like having MLK as an American leader - how could you declare?

Mao, on the other hand, has some more baggage on his conscience, so it's easier to justify... I like Beijing... :yumyum:

A quiet building turnset ... so no long report whatsoever ... of-course there is also this unfortunate matter of me being up in 3 SGs to consider ...

Anycase, we won the Taj Mahal race ... :woohoo:

Oh, but we lost the Spiral Minaret race.

In 1530AD, a great merchant was borned. I considered what to do with him, decided to use him to get Economics so trhat we get another Great Merchant, in effect learning Economics for free, so I spend 3 turns learning us Banking (need to clear Banking first before he can learn us Ecoomics).

vq07-AD1550-great-merchant.jpg

However, I checked economics before I commit, and when hovering over it, it does not show the "First to Learn get a free Great merchant" sign ... so much for my grand plan. :crazyeye: Most likely Hatty had gotten to Economics before us.

So what to do with him? I'll leave that to next player. The map is pretty small, and with our capital pretty close to the centre of the pangea, a trade mission may not net us that much gold (I estimate around 1500). SO, I suggest joining him to St Peterburg. Why? Because it is teh Taoist Holy city, and with stonehedge, we are bound to get a GProphet soon. So, St Petersburg can be our finiancial centre.

However that is up to next player.

On my last turn, Gandhi came asking for help ...

vq07-AD1550-gandhi-help.jpg

You will be receiving military trad alright, baldy, but not in the form of the tech, but in the form of cossacks.

Two stacks of troops are slowly rallying at two western points. I hope the next player doesn't mind, but quite some units have go-to order towards the two rallying point at the end of my turnset.

A few more troops and we can start the spawn of a new snake. Ironical that Indians are supposed to be expert snake handlers ...

>>> The Save (1550AD) <<<

EDIT: One More Thing (TM): we are learning chemistry soon, so suggest next player perform a massive promotion of macemans to CRI or II, and upgrade them to grenies.

How much has Taoism really spread? If not a ton, then even the shrine won't do that much for our coffers (imo). Glad to hear that we won the Taj race tho.

Seems like Hatty is going infra and Freddy going war research. Pretty much means Ghandi is useless to us (course if he manages to research something before we kill him... well pointy stick research can be fun for us).

How much has Taoism really spread?

Not much, but that can be rectified. But of-course, if we are going to capture the buddhist shrine sooner or later, that's another story.

EDIT: another good thing abt joining the merchant to ST petersburg is Merchant bring food (with some tech, I believe). This will help the already stagnant St Pete.

Which tech is that? I don't recall any tech that made Merchant Specialists generate food... Aside from their natural +1 food as a super specialist.

A Super Specialist generated from a Great Merchant is what generates the +1 food... no techs involved. So yes, St. Pete would get +1 food in addition to the Gold...

I think bobrath may have confused with a "regular" merchant specialist...
