:goodjob: I must say this looks impressive, I always enjoyed the fantasy mods various people did for Civ3, and when they said no-one new how to make new models for Civ4 I thought I would be in for a long wait until someone cracked it and it seems you have. Seen as though I have not yet downloaded your original Warhammer FB mod should I just wait until you have finnished all of the new units you are making or are you going to realease them seperately - I only ask because I dont know how to mod propperly like I did on civ3 :confused: :scan: :crazyeye:
 
Hi Mallek, I tink you should wait for the next beta, which hoepfully will be released soon. I want J to do the next version in a way, so one can easily add the unit graphics Ploe and me do....

Excuse the Archers, what i planned to do with them didnt work, so i had to make em simplier...

@J: implement please all Unit entries into the next beta, so people can add new units by overwriting the placeholder graphics.
I know its a lot of work, but well find some support, i work hard too :P

Seems like I have to do another button for those (or have you already done those?). As If the Woodelves I´m trying to do aren´t nasty enough (putting Green Units in front of a green background - stupid idea).

OK, enough complaining and whining:

Those units are as great as always :goodjob: It will be such another experience testing the new beta, you people (Ploe and you) are giving the real feeling to this world with your unit creations - keep up the fabulous work.
 
sorry semms like i have overread your begging.
I did those feathers, cause their armor is a bit... undetailed, wanted to destract from that by that ;)

If nothing works with the elves, try giving them a "dropshadow" to destinguish them from the background, looks unreal but its allways better to see them ;)

P.S. thanks, i like the units we do too, i cant wait for the new beta.

I was experimenting with "stroke" (size 1 or 2 px, default colour - the light yellow - and about 60% occupacy), looked better than the dropshadow IMHO, but I have to experiment a little bit more (right now I don´t have that much time for it, because I´m trying to learn some 3dsmax to do some buildings ;) just dled some tutorials).
 
Ok guys, my internet won't work, whatever I try and I will have to do some stuff for university. Think I won't be able to contribute much more before the next beta release.

just if the highelfarcher should have an officer in the next release already I fear you'll have to do that too, sorry.
Also want to learn some 3D Max too as soon my system works again. I definitly want to try importing unitmodels from DoW. This could delay nifediting and skinning further but I think it's worth the waiting time.

I second seZ with the idea about the unitentries. So after the next beta is there we can make some unitartpatches

I really hope that I can get my system online again soon, otherwise I may be able to upload from my works place but this is no way to get new files I need for modeling so I rather prefer to get my damn comp fixed first.:mad: Hope to go back on modding again by the end of next week. Wish me luck or counsel me if you know about bluescreens during LAN driverinstalls.

Change your sig! I appreciate what you're doing in general and don't won't to say anything against civ reformed. But the best mod ever is obviously going to be WHFB.:p

@J: hey there, how are you?? well, a little progress report on the new beta would be nice, i thought about taking some xml work on my shoulder, the unit graphics.
So your part would be adding all the unit entries in unitinfo.xml. then i will add all the art defines and the formations (plan on extanding them), by this i can make sure everything is graphically correct and diverse (different animations for soldiers in one unit and so on), i can make placeholder entries for the units we dont have graphics for, so we can update them without having to change any of the xmls. and i can try to keep the files necessary by the minimum.

By that people wouldnt have to wait for the next beta to play with the graphics Ploe and me release.

Hope you like that idea.
 
Wow! I just skimmed the page and a half that I missed while I was gone.

I'm you are interested, my ram burned out (again :( ) and I had to wait a week and a half until I had the money to buy a new stick. A week and a half without a computer, it was hell.

Anyway, now that I'm back, and with the assistance of Lime42's awesome new unit editor, the progress is going well. I've got high elves all done, wood elves and dark elves soon to be done, then I'll start norse and other misc new units.

New volunteers (and old), never fear, I am coming up with a list of things to do as we speak (well, not really, because I'm typing this post right now)

I will get a new beta up this week, and then I can start doling out assignment to new guys.

I go now to reread the posts more carefully...

Unlucky you! I never ever accomplished to get anything in my PC burned - Lucky me! All the bad luck in the family concerning computers seems to be with my father - last time he phoned me he got his main board AND his power supply burned :eek: (although it was one after the other, not at the same time)

Maybe you should buy two smaller sticks instead of one big one ;)

And as you can guess, I did some new buttons. A new one for the dryads and i accomplished to do a woodelf spearman. I also took the freedom to redo the new promotions that came with the first release of the Mod (don´t know if they are still needed).

i want a new version of the mod :)

i saw FfH2, and well they have some amazing spells and effects and stuff, but then i saw warhammer redux, and saw all our amazing units :P and now that i have found out how to improve graphics 100 times, i want a new one with all the new races.

Send me the files as soon as alll the technical stuff is done, then i will pimp it up graphically, by polishing skins, adding formations and giving each regiment some different animations and skins.
 
Let me know if there is anything I can do to help highlight this mod. I consider this a sister mod to FfH because your art work has contributed so much to the project.

@ seZ: Do you want to use the units with or without the mipmap? As far as I can tell from the screenshot the ones with the mipmaps are blurred? maybe you can post another screenshot in the flying camera Mode or zoom in a little bit more, so one can better see the difference between the two versions. plz!
I`m very interested in this, because maybe it will help me improve my buildings in the future

That would be a kind thing to do. I to think that both of our mods can profit a lot from each other and do it already.:) But I would prefer to have a new version of our mod out first. No need to draw much attention on the current version now. It doesn't reflect the progress me made at all right now.

@ Olleus: yea, i think J should at least asign some tasks!

@Keal: that would be great, hope you can use some more of our units in the future ;) but like ploe said, not until we get a version done which has all that stuff i am almost raging to integrate ;) (which will be the next one, after i got it into my fingers!!!!)

well, ill release the wardancer and some older units tomorrow to show the direct effect of it. if someone could tell me his experience then, i would know how to go on. i personally wont use mipmaps anymore in civ :P
