Weekend Specials Online

what's the cheapest pillars of eternity has been? It's $30 on gog this weekend. Wasteland 2 and age of wonders 3 are on sale as well.

This week's Humble Bundle includes Guns of Icarus Online Collector's Edition (soundtrack, some bonus costumes, a 33% off coupon for the co-op Adventure expansion) in the first tier. For $1 it's a steal, small community (usually around 300 or so people on, sometimes more sometimes less) but generally friendly and the devs play the game too. Great airship combat game which is still seeing updates.

I know nothing about the other games though.

I have heard good things about among the sleep but that it's really short and wasn't worth the money. But hey now it's cheap in a bundle! Lords of xulima has some good reviews too, looks like baldurs gate with might and magic combat. It's been cheaper on steam I think $10 but you wouldn't get the bundle of course.

ITAD's being a bit funky but $30 seems to be as low as its been.

Re: the bundle, Guns of Icarus is definitely the highlight and is great fun, particularly with friends.

Is there any logic to coupons suddenly appearing in your steam inventory ? i just got one for Dawn of War 2, and I already own that game.

lolno

EDIT: I got one for DoW 1, which is the only one I own. 75% is okay I guess but considering it goes on sale for that quite often.... eh. Most of hte coupons seem random though, someone just wants them put out for their game or something. They are usually complete crap.

The coupons are usually worse than summer/winter sale prices and yeah, a lot of time for games you own. I *think* it's just random.

I just got the newest humble bundle, snag it while the BTA is cheap! You get Outland, Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes and Mercenary Kings for a buck, BTA is Endless Space (not xpac), Stanley Parable and Van Helsing 2. If you pay $18 you can get space engineers too.

I basically bought it cus I have wanted endless space for a while and it only ever drops to 7.50. But all the games look good!

Picked it up, but only the base. Might go BTA later, but I've already got Van Helsing and Stanley Parable, and GalCiv2 Ultimate is still on my to-play list (though I have played the previous expansion), so I'm not sure I really need another space TBS. Fallen Enchantress, however, is one I'd been considering picking up off and on.

Also picked up Cities: Skylines from the Humble Store the other day, though I haven't had chance to play it yet, in part because they ran out of keys Sunday night so I hadn't been able to install it.

Endless Space is pretty mediocre. Far better off getting Sword of the Stars Complete, deeper game in general plus it actually has a combat system (unlike ES).

I made sure to put their slider to 0 before any others. Nice to finally get Stanley Parable for a cheap price.

Tempted by this bundle $2.50 for 9 steam games, mostly cheap Stronghold 3
Three of the games have cards as well.

Velvet Assassin
Stronghold 3: Gold Edition
Legendary
Dementium II HD
Kung Fu Strike
Cargo Commander
Roogoo
Rush Bros
Insecticide: Episode 1

Stronghold 3 isn't worth any price. I don't understand how Firefly has been in business for the last 10 years when so many better developers have closed their doors for less and better selling games.

Yep stronghold 3 BLOWS. I got suckered into it (on sale of course but still money wasted) cus I really enjoyed the original stronghold, despite a ton of flaws. At it's core it was pretty fun. I got it in a pack that had 1, 2, legends and crusader. When I first played 3 it looked like it was from 1990 still and makes no sense. It's like they don't change or improve the game at all.

How are they still in business? I don't know but wikipedia says they only have 26 employees. There's probably only like 5 programmers working on these games. You don't have to sell a lot to support the payroll of 26 employees either. Wikipedia for stronghold 3 says "The game went gold on October 6 and was released on October 25." If they sold 50,000 copies at $40 pre order price that's 2 million in revenue.

I'll work on my backlog instead,
I figured at that cheap price it might be worth a few hours of play enjoyment, it got 433 positive reviews somehow. I'll buy the humble bundle instead, Mercenary Kings looks like retro fun.

>original stronghold
>a ton of flaws

That's it off to the gulag with you.

The difficulty from mission to mission is horribly balanced. One will be a breeze, next one close to impossible. Like the mission where you take the pig's castle. I couldn't figure it out at all and I looked up on youtube how to do it and it was a cheesy strat where you positioned archers on a specific hill out of range but where they could pick off enemies. Well guess what? I guess in the collector's edition I got they added a patch to fix some physics or something and that strat doesn't work. The level is unbeatable, like seriously, I didn't see a single vid of anyone beating it without using that strategy.

And the combat in general in it isn't that great. But it's a very fun builder game. I'd play free build a lot just for fun.

It was a difficult level yes, but it wasn't impossible. I didn't use that strategy to beat it, though I don't remember exactly what I did, I probably last beat it over a decade ago.

Reminder that the discounts should also stack with their vouchers; current one is GMGSAV-E20GMG-SAVE20.

Note that the EU4 collection does not contain Art of War, which is probably the most important one. It also does not include anything after that.

And while I love Victoria II dearly, the two expansions are pretty critical and neither is on sale. Same with Hearts of Iron III. Would not really recommend either.
