What America and Europe have in common?

Well, let me put it this way: people almost always focus on their differences. I am from Brno, Czech Republic, so I make fun of those living in Prague. People from Britain make fun of the French, they point at the differences and ridicule them. On the trans-Atlantic level, Europeans and Americans often see only the differences between their way of life, mentality, values etc. and this leads to a kind of "alienation".

Let's not talk about it for a while and be positive. Let's find things we (North Americans and Europeans) have in common

I wouldn't call that a common thing, besides Americans seems to think socialism = communism and obviosuly we have a lot of strong wealfare states here.

Our Democracies are hardly the same though, generally European Democracy is multi-party whilst the US's is obviously very much 2 party.

In my opinion, which I have expressed on this board before, is that the US is a European country. Aside from the obvious fact that they're both populated by white people, the US has the same history (European history) and the same ideals (democratic process, freedom).

I've always thought it was foolish that people would focus so much on the differences.
