Well, let me put it this way: people almost always focus on their differences. I am from Brno, Czech Republic, so I make fun of those living in Prague. People from Britain make fun of the French, they point at the differences and ridicule them. On the trans-Atlantic level, Europeans and Americans often see only the differences between their way of life, mentality, values etc. and this leads to a kind of "alienation".

Let's not talk about it for a while and be positive. Let's find things we (North Americans and Europeans) have in common :)

We own America genetically.

We live on the same planet?

Hmm I want to say all without things mentioned in threads about differences between them. They are people like we, they have same problems and same goals.

A distrust of communism?

In my opinion, which I have expressed on this board before, is that the US is a European country. Aside from the obvious fact that they're both populated by white people, the US has the same history (European history) and the same ideals (democratic process, freedom).

I've always thought it was foolish that people would focus so much on the differences.

we've got the whole brother and sister thing going on, we'll bicker and argue but when something big happens we'll have each other's back.

...right europe?
