A nice - albeit not very high-brow- documentary about HP Lovecraft :)

I've read a lot of HP Lovecraft. I think for his time he was one of the better authors of horror and science fiction. Many modern authors have based some of their work on his.

These days I prefer to read fresher material that had the benefit of a better editing.

You know, when he came up with the will of the universe and how everyones own true will would be a reflection of the will of the universe and that one couldn't do wrong when following this will - when he did that, I was immensely annoyed.
I like a lot of the other things he said though. I particular liked his argument that art was the true magic and what meant in terms of profit-orientated art.. And I liked his portrayal of the human psych.

I agree on what you found annoying. Very reminiscent of Crowley, imo. "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law." Though perhaps he deserves some benefit of the doubt: i.e. maybe he didn't quite say what he intended.

I agree, too, on art, and words, being the true magic.
