What are your top five music videos and why?

1. Rush - Tom Sawyer

2. Alice in Chains - I stay away

3. Run DMC vs. Jason Nevins - It's like that

I love Weapon of Choice. Seeing Christopher Walken dance around the hotel...that was great.

And Bittersweet Symphony is pretty cool too.

I also really like Closing Time, By Semi-Sonic. Split Screen, both taken in one shot... great video.

Here is my somewhat, if not completely, cliched list

1. Thriller - Micheal Jackson: does this really need explanation?
2. Sabotage - The Beastie Boys: Pure campiness, I love it
3. Weapon of Choice - Fatboy Slim: Walken!
4. Buddy Holly - Weezer: Editing the band into 'Happy Days' is a great little gimmick and I have a thing for nostalgia. Not as good is Keep Fishing in which they do a guest spot on 'The Muppet Show'
5. Billie Jean - Micheal Jackson: Speaking of nostalgia, this was the first music video I ever saw and it is one of the defining works of the 80's in my mind

In no particular order:

Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel.
Thriller - MJ.
Take On Me - A-HA.
Learning To Fly - Pink Floyd.
Plasticity - Front Line Assembly.

Bittersweet Symphony for me, just because I love the way the fella mouths "F***ing P****!" at him as he pushes past. I am slightly biased though given that The Verve are Wigan's finest Export.

To be fair, these days I like any video that doesn't have either 50 Cent in it or a bunch of near naked birds. (One or two is ok :mischief: but MTV is saturated by them at the minute:sleep: )

Might try some of them out.

I don't usually watch music videos, so it will be a nice change of pace :).

Some music viedos I particuarly like, for the reason that the songs are good and the videos go well with them...

Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit*
Marilyn Manson - Coma White
Tool - Parabol/Parabola
Tool - Schism
Placebo - Nancy Boy

*probably the best music video ever, really. The feel of the video matchs the song perfectly, and basically sums up grunge and headbanging so well.

1. Mo' Money Mo' Problems - The Notorious B.I.G. - Awesome song, awesome video, ushered in the shiny suit era of hip-hop, woulda been better if Biggie had been alive to be in it.

2. Flava In Ya Ear (Remix) - Craig Mack - Black and White, cool through and through.

3. Can't Stop - Red Hot Chili Peppers - Watch it when you are high.

4. Walking Contradiction - Green Day - Destruction, Chaos, Anarchy!

5. Bad Boy For Life - Puff Daddy - Diddy, Daddy, Poppa-diddy-pop, Mr. Daddy

Rem-Everybody Hurts

Queen-I Want to Break Free

Johnny Cash-Hurt

Bob Dylan-Subterranean Homesick Blues (no vid)

Pogues-Fairytale of New York :p

I want to break free is a great video but very disturbing as I can't get over how pretty Roger Taylor looks, very disturbing mentally

Nancy boy is that the one were the guy walks down the wall: great song and great video too

Fat boy slims weapon of choice is also great, Christopher Walken was following a career as a dancer before he became an actor, it kind of shows in the video he at least knows his left foot from his right

Home sick blues: Bob Dylans song is the one where he holds up the prompt cards of the lyrics to the camera in case anyones not familliar, or has been living on Mars.

Well, if you're going to credit anyone for having someone just walk down an average street, it should be rights be Massive Attack for the video for "Unfinished Sympathy", which did just that a full seven years before the Verve got into the act.

Plus the song was a whole lot more palatable too.

I haven't watched music videos in ages, but any list missing the Beastie Boys' video for "Sabotage" is definitely, er, missing something.

This is true. I just remembered another favourite video Africa bambata's: Zulu nation I think it was called where the guy slowly but surely falls to pieces(rather like he's made of glass) as he is hounded by some sort of African witch doctor. Absolutely ground breaking video wise, but relatively unkown.

I like Praise You too... At first, I thought it was really people doing it...after a couple of viewings, it was obvious it wasn't...

I honestly don't think I've ever seen five music videos, since I never watch TV or buy singles. I suppose I'll put "She Loves Me Not" by Papa Roach as my favourite since it's the only one I can remember ever watching. :p

I just got into music videos a few months ago, so here is my list, in no order:

Clint Eastwood by Gorillaz
Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Wake me up When September Ends and Holiday by Green Day
Helena and I'm Not Okay by My Chemical Romance
Move Along by The All-American Rejects
Bad Day by Daniel Powter
When I'm Gone by Eminem

Wait, that's more then five. I just couldn't choose five.

In no particular order.

1. Estranged- Guns N Roses
2. Ressurection-Fear Factory
3. Smells Like Teen Spirit- Nirvana
4. Fallig to Pieces- Faith no More
5. I Stay Away- Alice in Chains
