The Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy (I swear I wrote "Tony Hawk" first) and Data Structures by Evangel Quiwa (textbook for, well, data structures).

Progress and Poverty by Henry George

I'm almost halfway finished with The Arabian Nights

I started reading The Radetzky March, which is a very interesting piece on Austro-Hungarian history towards the tail-end of their existence.

Death Traps - Survival of US of an US armored Division in world war 2 - Belton Y Cooper

Now I'm reading the manual for my new bloody oven.

Erno Paasilinna: Kadonnut armeija (Lost army) 1977

The German 1918 Offensives: A Case Study in the Operational Level of War - David Zabecki

As with all Clancy books-made-into-movies, you will end being very mad at the film makers.

The sum of all fears was an abortion :(, I haven't seen the others.

I know it will never get done, but I would love a well crafted adaption to Red Storm Rising. Might be harder, considering a Jack Ryan-esque character doesn't headline the whole story, but I still think that it could get done.

The View from the Summit by Edmund Hillary along with The Art of the Personal Essay edited by Phillip Lopate

I actually think it would be supremely boring, as much as I love RSR. That sort of thing has just been way overdone, and the story isn't conductive to any sort of character development, it would basically be like Transformers all over again.

If any Clancy book deserves to be made into a movie, it is Cardinal of the Kremlin. Its no coincidence that this is also my favorite of his novels, so there's definitely some bias there. Too bad Alec Baldwin is too old and fat to be a good Ryan any more, I thought he was the best one.

I'd love to see that. Cardinal is my favorite of his too, though Red October is a close second.

I don't need character development to enjoy a movie:lol:

But only Harrison Ford could be "President Ryan" (Executive Orders). And Baldwin would finally have to keep his promise and flee to Canada.

The best Tom Clancy has got to be "Red Storm Rising", but a movie would be problamatic.

I don't care about problamatic. I would rather watch a faithful adaption of RSR with problems then half of the crap out there today.

I had Catch-22 lying around at home for some time, but somehow never managed to read it....I'm amending that now :)

A book that size exceeds what could be well done in a movie. You just can't squeeze enough into a movie's time limits.
