What do you think of reality TV shows?

I think they are stupid and overrated.

American idol was stupid for one. I mean why would i idolize someone just because they sing well? And even then they dont sing the music i like.

Oh and dont get me started on those celebrity reality shows. Paris hilton.

They are all bad. I want real actors. Is reality TV here to stay?

The only reality tv show i like is Cops. Thats it. Its one of the first and the only good one.

Now they've been beaten to death, way past the point of novelty. I liked the first couple Survivors and especially The Mole.

Some of them are cool, but the majority suck.

There were a couple cool ones on TLC and the Discovery Channel, and I was into The Amazing Race.. last comic standing was cool..

There have been so many reality tv shows and such a small amount of good ones.

Until the proles get their brains back, yes.

I find COPS a tad racist. Is it just me, or are the only felons on that show black-skinned, poverty-stricken men?

I liked the first couple Survivors and especially The Mole.

Survivor... what is that, anyway? A competition for who likes who the most, who carries the biggest load, who has some idol of immunity? Puh-leeze, I've gone into the forest and camped out for weeks. It would be more entertaining if they just dumped the contestants out in the bush and waited to see who lasted the longest.

No they show whites and hispanics as well if thats what your asking.

Its just that for many of the crimes they report on blacks are involved in them frequently, such as auto theft and drug trafficking.

It's not as exciting as regular versions of the show.

In fact, they barely leave the US. They go to Panama once and take a short trip to Canada, and the rest is throughout the US.

The above isn't too big a spoiler. It reveals in no way who wins or what actually happens in the episodes.

And the Weavers are by far the most annoying ones.

COPS isn't so racist as it is economically disparaging.


Never ever do you see them arresting people that commit heinous offenses. It's all petty crimes. Possession, domestic disputes, prostitution, etc.

Would be nice to see them go on a corporate sting and nab some white collar criminals, but there will be glaciers in Las Vegas before we ever see that.


The whole purpose of the show is to make people feel like there are a bunch of bad people out there just waiting to hurt us and our wonderful fascist police forces are the only things that keep us safe at night.

I can't stand and will not watch crap like Survivor.

But, I do like the reality shows that are more.... grounded in reality. Like where the families switch homes and redo each other's house.

That said, those shows get a bit bland, so I really don't watch much reality TV at all.

They are all awful. The only thing that keeps us safe from them and god-awful sitcoms (think How I Met Your Mother) is re-runs of Seinfeld, Family Guy, and 24.
