[RD] What does free speech mean?

I guess that what I'm saying is that it is important to prevent such successful "cleansing" of past crimes. A lot of trivial stuff is being called "fake news", and setting up shadowy entities to police news because of "fake news" is not a good thing imo. But there are some falsities that must be fought and denounced!

I don't pretend to have any simple answer to this problem. Only saying that it is a problem. I don't like any policing of speed, but on some very select things there is hardly an argument about historical truth and its importance, is there? I find myself not opposing the criminalization of holocaust denial. If that is a problem for nazis, good.

It is if you're part of the military. The military could either have followed Hitler, be nazis, or turned against him. They followed him. A handful tried to kill him only after it was obvious that the war was lost, and in an attempt to preserve their own positions as the military of Germany from total defeat. It wasn't because they were morally offended at all the war crimes, it was because they were losing the war that even those finally moved.

The argument was about "the majority of Germans" and why the invasion of Poland didn't result in a civil war. The German military was not a "majority of German citizens", and nothing that majority might have said/done could realistically have ousted the actual military. It's not surprising that people look the other way/"go with" things they otherwise oppose severely when being effectively persuaded at gunpoint themselves.

Like extreme religion, political fanaticism is akin to a communicable mental illness.

Find a way to talk about your sexual desire without turning women into sex objects, and you'll be perfectly fine.

But nah, men being able to do whatever you want whenever you want without any accountability is much more important than women being able to feel comfortable and safe as equals
If a shop had a swimsuit calendar, would that make you uncomfortable? If the babe threads still existed, would they make you uncomfortable?

They'd certainly make me feel uncomfortable. Very few shops or workplaces would have a swimsuit calendar in an area visible to the general public nowadays and I'm glad.
It used to be quite uncomfortable going into a predominantly male environment like a garage and being confronted by pictures of scantily clad or topless women.

In principle, should an anonymous Internet forum not contain images of women in swimsuits to ensure women visitors are not discomfited? I’m honestly trying to figure out where the proposed lines are. Because “men doing whatever they want” is a very large set.

Imagine going to a predominately female-dominated environment and then seeing a large amount of topless/scantily clad, well muscled and endowed men, would that not make you the least bit uncomfortable or at least raise some concern on your part?

Never bought a swimsuit calenders in my life, probably haven't bought a calenders since 2000.

In private though I don't care. I remember the babe threads, idk what happened to them or care one way or another. Not even sure what RD tags are was afk for 5+ years.

I don’t think so, no. Not if it’s mostly confined to a hunks thread. Also, as a joke, I had a hunks calendar in my bedroom last year

You can now see the slippery slope and inevitable social engineering path that would lead to a "Demolition Man" society...

Demolition Man is where you revolt. Bring the system down.

Just rewatched it a few weeks ago. Still enjoyed it. It's on Netflix.

Be well.

No but threads devoted to pictures of women in swimsuits is more than the occasional picture.

There are pictures and sculptures of naked men and women in art galleries. Scant clothing, or even nudity, of either gender is not the problem, really. It's moreso what's been portrayed in the image, and the motive behind it.

So you're telling me, you wouldn't feel uncomfortable with barely covered pictures of strong, dominent, well endowed men with large, thick muscles, standing in provocative poses in an open setting?

What’s the relevance of that? Of course it would be more than occasional if we’re talking about a serial thread with 1,000 posts, right?

Babes threads have a very different message to an art gallery.
They suggest a place that belongs to me, where women are welcome on sufferance at best, an attitude that many male gamers have displayed in the past. I'm glad this site has moved on from that.

Here you go.

Have some 90s beefcake.

Not necessarily, no. And, I mean, lathering on the adjectives isn’t honing in on some attributes that would make me uncomfortable in particular. I did say “hunks” didn’t I? I’m picturing exactly what you are.
