Urban dictionary is split on this:

Beer run 314 up, 63 down
act of going to the local liquor establishment to replentish supply of alcohol for the party, while in a drunken state
Example: Son of a we're out it's time for a beer run.

Beer run 228 up, 94 down

the act of casually walking into, preferrebly, a liquor store, grabbing the beer of your choice for that night, and then casually walking past the counter with it until you approach the door, then darting off with it like a bat out of hell, either into a get away car or simply down the street into a safe alley or apartment complex.

Example: Chuck and I got drunk last night and decided to do a beer run at Hanshaw's Liquor for the of it.

@Mods - not sure if this is "too laid back, not enough content" for the new forum, trying to figure out/ get used to the new format.

The first, except being drunk isn't really necessary.

Its just stocking up on beer.

Exactly, a beer run is simply to go out and get beer and nothing (or almost nothing) else and coming straight back (usually to drink it). Same with any kind of food run.

If it involves running [especially from the law] then you're doing it wrong.

1. go to liquor store
2. buy a ton of vodka (legally - this is a key part!) (if you aren't buying your vodka by the ton, you're doing it wrong)
3. ???
4. Profit! Or drunkenness. Close enough.

A booze run is going to get booze. The second is stupid and being drunk isn't necessary.

From the number of votes, it doesn't seem to be even close to "split" on this. 100 votes less means it's only some local meaning that no one else has ever used.

So they don't have beer in Assachusetts?

maybe because the only people that post in urban dictionary are young punk teenage males who can't afford beer, so they have to steal it. The youth of today have no morals. :) Or the schools have pushed the communism message too much, and they feel the local small business owner should subsidize their binge drinking habit.

I don't think the first beer purchase of the night is technically a beer run . A true beer run is an unanticipated purchase incremental to the initial buy precipitated by unforeseen excess consumption or additional drinkers .

This is an extremely appropriate reformulation and I encourage its adoption by other parties to the discussion.

It's when the keg is empty but you haven't got the chick drunk enough to sleep with you yet, (and you're too drunk to know she never will), so you run to get more beer.

What else could it mean?

Vodka is efficient! Beer is inefficient.

You raise a relevant point and I must refine my initial position.

Beer runs are typically characterized by being unanticipated or on short notice. This is crucial to the concept of the "run".

It is called a "Booze run" Dachs, not an alcohol run. You need to party more.

Of course beer is an extremely common alcoholic beverage of choice so beer run is just as if not more commonly used and performed. Now I want beer.

This is what beer run means :goodjob:
