What have you achieved in 2015?

Assuming all goes as planned, i would have received a first part of a payment for a deal for a seminar in a private cultural center as well, before the end of the year.

Still not an actual solution to money problems i have, but surely something positive..

I've written my first novel, which I'd like to see as a mass market paperback. For this, I need a major publisher, and to get one of those, I need a first-rate literary agent. Mathematically, 1/2 of 1% of queries to literary agents result in representation.

I've just received a response to my query to one of the world's most respected literary agents. He's asking to look at my first 50 pages. :woohoo: He's not yet agreeing to represent me, but it's a great step forward. :D

Wow Zkrib, that's wonderful! I'm assuming that after 90 pages if he really wants to know what happens that's a winner. Good luck!

Today I made Salisbury Steak sauce that turned out really delicious. We tried it with noodles over imported ingredient burgers with sauce, and it was really great. Tomorrow we make the actual oval shaped burger steaks to serve. Making them with Worcestershire sauce, a little bit special.

Soon going to add BBQ sauce burgers. Expand the menu a bit.

-Moving in with my partner and getting engaged is probably the big one.

-Work is still ticking along and we did some good things this year, achieved a very minor world first according to at least one expert in our field. Nothing huge though.

-Also got my third kyu (lowest ranked brown belt) in karate.

I achieved absolutely nothing of value. I've been on a consistent run of achieving nothing of value since about high school, maybe junior high if I am being generous.

Nah, that's an achievement of consistency. Looks like you've screwed your series of achieving nothing after all... :king:

Ever think of a barbecued chicken sandwich? :yumyum:

[...Tomorrow, Cinto, Rigo & I are headed to Tag. If you want to come, departure time is 08:30]

We are expanding our menu. For that we would need a good source of chicken breasts. We use the rest of the chicken for other stuff so...I'll talk to Dolores about it.

Can't do it amigo, have to make burgers and Salisbury steaks today. Thanks though! :)

I got nice glasses

That you did. :)

As for myself, I don't recall doing anything particularly meaningful, though I did play two games which immediately charged to the top of my "attack of the feels" list (Gone Home and Life is Strange). I've also been keeping up with my resolution to read 4,000 pages of novels I've not read before this year.

I moved out and got myself a proper gaming computer for the first time in my life. Two big goals :p

-Got paid a small amount (very small) by the publishing house, due to starting to do some PR-organising work for them + first percentage from sold books of mine :)

- Kept the baby alive for another year. Guess she's not really a baby anymore...but a toddler, seeing as she can walk, and kiiiiinda talk. That's awfully rewarding.

- Lost a little weight

- Learned to play the piano a little bit

- Completed my most successful and acclaimed professional work, including breaking a few stories, rehabilitating a few sites, setting up regular radio appearances across the country, and writing multiple things that not only were well read, but that I was proud of.

It was a good year for writing, despite all the challenges. Hopefully next year will be better.

I've just received a response to my query to one of the world's most respected literary agents. He's asking to look at my first 50 pages.

He declined. :(

He included a comment that he thought the plot was developing too quickly. I'm not sure what to do with this. I don't know if I agree, and if I do, what do I do about it?

Dishes, glorious dishes! I wash thousands of dishes. Yay?

This triggered a memory of the old Bob Newhart show, where he went over to the restaurant of Larry and his brother Darryl and his other brother Darryl. The Darryls were doing the dishes, including washing the plastic straws. They would dry the insides of the straws by putting them to their lips and blowing.

How do I know that real restaurants don't wash their plastic straws this way? :hmm:

I cleared my garden of its jungle. And literally hundreds (well... tens.. well... 5 or 6) people have told me they are astonished how quickly I've done it.

You take it around to other publishers, ask their opinion, and incorporate consensus feedback.
