What is Canada like?

As far as I know, it's very sparsely populated, mostly forest or tundra. Some Frenchmen down the St. Lawrence and some Scots on the East coast, and apart from that it's mostly Indians and Jesuits across to the Pacific.

That said, my interest in peters out by the 1780s, so it's possible things have changed in the mean-time, although it doesn't seem overly likely.

It's still sparsely populated across most of it's area.

edit: that map is a lot bigger than it looked on the other page.

Last time I went for a hike on Vancouver Island, I could have sworn I was walking through a rainforest... :hmm:

(consults memory and photo albums)

Yep. Lots and lots and lots of trees.

As for the Prairies... well, I've never been to Manitoba, but I see by the map that it has a lot of lakes. I hear it's got a lot of mosquitoes. And not one winter goes by that I don't hear complaints and justifications as to why the provincial capitol is called "Winterpeg."

Saskatchewan is apparently quite flat, with zero trees, although I've seen photos that have demonstrated this to be untrue.

As for Alberta, particularly in the area I'm in? Lots of trees. Not-flat terrain (at least not all of it). Lots of lovely mountains.

Dunno about the rest of Canada, but around here we buy milk in either cartons or plastic jugs.
