What is the most worthless university degree?

Ugh. Music education isn't quite worthless, but 159 credit hours for a bachelor's that'll get you about $30k a year is certainly a *****.

Just an FYI...eight semesters at 15 credit hours per semester is 120 credit hours. So, if I took classes like a normal student, I wouldn't even be done in five years.

Ancient Greek Philosophy. There is a poster over at Apolyton (Agathon) who teaches that at the University of Toronto and we all laugh at him when he tries to defend his usefulness.

Sociology, psychology, communications, business management. Propably not the most worthless without some wierd courses. some are useless because they are too common, business and communication, others are useless because it requires you to do advance degree psychology and sociolgy, to be employed at all.

Well, without saying it's mine (Chemical Engineering, although at times I swear someone must have dumped me on an Applied Maths course), I'd say there were several that could probably be considered equally worthless, although (almost) any degree could be useful I suppose

What degree you have doesn't matter as much as the fact that you actually have a degree.

The rest, is up to the person and how hard they want to work and what their vision for their life is.

Am I the only person that thinks the objective of college is to gain an education, not employment? :hmm:

I agree, some people seem to forget that. Getting a college/uni. degree in subjects like History, Geo, Math, English.. etc. just basically shows the world that youre not a complete dumbass and can achieve something intellectually, it doesnt give you any marketable employment skills

Any Math degree, what is that gonna get you besides a lot of wheggies?
Apparently, at the University where I work, math is the only degree where the graduates have a 95% placement rate after 4 years (in a job related to their field of study).

Of course, a lot of them become statisticians, so they end up paying a price.

As for the wedgies.... well, I've had a number of students I wish would get some. What a bunch of posers/hosers.

well theres that David Beckham degree, oh and that degree in Harry Potter so they must be right up there.

Philosophy degrees arent that bad, its just that you need at least an MA to find a real job in that field, since a BA doesnt get you a job in a university. Also most people who havent studied philosophy dont really understand what the degree is about, since everyone ofcourse thinks that they already can think whatever they need to just fine :yup:
