Also I am pro Republic, direct election of senators was a disaster. All out Democracy always seems to fail. It's like they have some sort of half-life.
First passed the post democracy tends to descend into demagoguery and partisanship. The more democratic system of Range Voting would favor more reasonable politics.
And yes, you are correct. But since the politicians are the ones who would change that, there's not much hope for such reform unless done by some sort of referendum.

To use less... aggressive terms, I would say that first past the post leads to coalitions being formed on the sub-party level--you end up with two massive parties that are comprised of many coalitions and have relatively broad platforms to appeal to the majority of voters. Other voting systems lead to coalitions being formed at the party level, where several parties with smaller numbers and more narrow platforms are elected and then have to form a government.
I guess the closest option here for me would be independent since every single party in the US just seems outrageously moronic to me. Although I think Narz believes I'm a Republican for some reason.
I guess I am largely a Perónist, ideologically speaking. Which makes me more-left-than-a-Communist in US-politics (though to be fair, I would be somewhat on the left-wing of the Perónists).
UK politics I'm a Ballot-Ruiner. I would be a supporter of the MRL's, but they haven't fielded any candidates in any of my elections.
