Funky Friday: I'm not sure Kool & the Gang get enough respect. If you're getting into funk or soul or R&B, Wild and Peaceful ought to be on your list of albums to listen to. Quentin Tarantino put "Jungle Boogie" in everybody's ears back in '94, which is a great song, but I kind of think "Funky Stuff" is my preferred track. That descending bass-and-kick-drum thing hits me in the back of the head every time. Is that a "descending chromatic"? I heard an opera singer on YouTube describe a line as a descending chromatic, but I don't know if that's just an opera term, or just a singing term, or what. La-di-da-di-da... la-di-da-di-da...
