amen brother!

Nothing like a big plate of artery clogging chili cheese fries...:goodjob:

Yeah, phillipe - tell me about some of those options. Not only have you made me damn hungry, but I'm also curious:

americain?
bickey?
tartare?
samorei?

Tell me more. I may have some experimenting to do tomorrow.

But after a bad french restaurant binge last year, it's the ultra-unhealthy mayo with eggs every time.

I assume you mean french fries, phillippe?

Sometimes ketchup, sometimes nothing with fries.
They are so good that spice's often destroy their delicacy (sp?) :)

(Edit: Yah yah yah, Pommes frites = French fries in French.)

I like my fries with ketchup -OR- ranch dressing, but ranch isn't up there :(

Oh yeah, in case anyone is wondering, frites is french for fries.

americain: a sauce with a special taste, has a red colour
bickey: original a dressing for burgers but more and more poeple use them on their fries
tartare: a bitter sauce and its a favorite by some poeple
samorai: a very hot sauce, you gonna burn your mouth with that!

Tomato Sauce or Gravy.

Mayo or vinegar are also alright.

While I generally prefer tomato ketchup(AKA catsup), we silly Americans put all sorts of daft things besides the ubiquitous salt on our fries:

Mayo (egg type), mustard in every shade and spice, BBQ sauce, gravy from every meat, melted cheese(cheddar and sauce), chili, ranch dressing, tartar sauce(Mayo w/dill pickle relish in it) and more. Fries have become so much a part of American cuisine, that they can occupy the side of the plate with almost any entree, except maybe pasta dishes.

The Americans I just subjected to this may feel free to either roll their eyes, or add to the list.

It may be my age and my habit of seldom eating chips but I have never heard of half the things on this list. I voted mayonnaise on this poll and on the last one we had ages ago but I was disappointed to see that mushy peas didn't make the poll although I'm probably the only person who'd have voted for them. Rodgers, Mr President, kitten and any other "Yorkshire folk" hereabouts may be tempted by them but they aren't even that popular here in the heartland of mushy pea support. Everyone else will be disgusted though. :)

... Gravy.
I totally forgot about this!! Ever have DQ (Dairy Queen) Country Baskets? The leftover gravy (if any) gets the full attention of the French Fries (including pre-empting the catsup, LOL!).

Yum!

Correction. Already was sort of disgusted, in my case when I saw it in a pub or small restaurant somewhere in England. Can't remember when/wher exactly, but that and the Vinegar potato chips really stand out in my mind! I'd wondered about their core of support! That and the fact that when you say "Chips" in England, you likely won't get Lays... it's gunna be a mess of well-oiled Frech Fries!!! heheehe... big surprise for many Americans that I've traveled there with for the first time!

Too right your Grace!:D The mint sauce on top of mushy peas is a new one - I always go for gravy on them myself. The only downside being the horrendous after-effect the next day - no naked flames:nono:

I wasn't sure about a lot of the options - generally if I've got a plate of chips I tip every sauce I can find onto them, so I'd vote for all of them!

Oh man! I forgot the crowning glory: mushy peas with mint sauce on top!

 DAYAM!!! I thought kimchi was jacked up!!! ;) Yes, ranch is good, bleu/blue cheese also. Especially if it has chunks of the cheese in there... :goodjob: Now I am surprised by so many people saying mayo... Maybe I'll have to try it. :crazyeye:
