What should the dog be called ?

Setting aside the impracticality of that solution, are you not aware that we have people of African descent in these countries also?

Yes I know that, and a fair few also served in bomber command in WW2, I would expect people from the old Commonwealth countries to have heard of the Dam Busters regardless of their race, creed or colour.

The name was not a slur, believe a Wing Commander who has aircrew from the West Indies, Canada, Aus, NZ etc etc would be throwing slurs about ?

but the word ni gger is extremely offensive to certain people
Life can be offensive sometimes. People just need to deal with that sometimes and carry on. This was apparently the dog's name and is even on the dog's gravestone over in the UK.

What does it say about a person when they think of a racial slur instead of a starchy comestible when they hear the word "cracker"? As for its counterpart, do you know of any alternate meaning?
What about with the "n-word" and how it actually means "black". Why do people get bent out of shape over colors?

Don't be so disingenuous. The word is hardly applied to any other situation than a person, and usually in a derogatory sense.
