What Video Games Have You Been Playing? IX: Now With 4K VR!

Been struggling to get Operation Wolf working with a "light gun" on my MAME cabinet. So instead I've been playing Tomb Raider II. Aiming to possibly play something from this century at some point.

Tomb Raider II was cool. You even got to go outside!

Old-School Tomb Raider games, where not doing a cheat code properly caused Laura Croft to explode.

tyranitar, kadabra, gengar, heracross, crobat, houndoom, skarmory and ALL the eeveelutions. I even tried playing battletower with a team of jolteon/aerodactyl/blissey, which was insanely hard to get back in the days.

I see you're a man of culture as well. Our favorite pokemon overlap pretty hard. Tyranitar, Heracross and Skarmory in particular. Aerodactyl, Kabutops, and Dragonite were three of my favorites from gen 1.

Sometimes combining the genetics of Maxis-made sims results in disaster.

Spoiler sorry, guys :

Nineties kids know that there are exactly 151 Pokémon. Any alleged expansion on this number is apocryphal at best.

Always water starter. always.

Also Gen 3 best for pokemon/world/appearance, Gen 1 for sheer lulzy sprites.

Wartortle is my favorite pokemon. Don't @ me.

gosh, yes. Skarmory was the tits. I didn't find it to be particularly effective, though... my swellow seemed stronger for flying moves, and I had another pokemon with a stronger metal claw. Also, steel/flying gets a lot of weaknesses IIRC. I believe I ended the game with an altaria for flying type.

You're all making me feel like there's some enormous cultural touchstone I've missed out on. (I even did Neopets, for crying out loud.)

:high5: Only '90s kids remember the '90s.

Some people may call me blasphemous, but I think that FireRed/LeafGreen is superior to the original games.

Also, oops

Skarmory is a tank, not a sweeper. Its best use is inflicting Toxic and using Spikes to annoy the crap out of the enemy party.

Most people who still play pokemon agree with you actually, we're just a bunch of old farts in here. I would say that the mechanics keep getting better but I can't keep track of the meta anymore and the newer pokemon just aren't really compelling to me (I also think the whole mega evolution thing is very stupid).

I like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon quite a bit, though. You get to play AS a Pokemon!

I feel like this thread has veered on focusing on a single franchise :p
And like there is some generational gap, to see so many people who have played a Pokemon game.

Same here. Pokemon came out just after I evolved to PC Master Race. Only played Pokemon Go for about an hour. Caught some orange lizard thing in my bathroom.

swellow is actually a much better pokemon for the sake of completing the game, mostly due to better base stats (atk and spe) and better movepool aswell as stab combo. skarm however doesn't have many weaknesses, it actually has some of the fewest weaknesses in the game while having the most resistances (not anymore) of all pokemon. weak to fire and electric, quadruple resistant to bug and grass, resistant to normal, steel, ghost, dark, psychic, dragon, flying and immune to ground and poison. feels weird I didn't have to look this up, I haven't played any iteration for a few years now

Took me two years to get a religious victory in Civ 6 because I never really committed to it before.
